"Tom & Thomas" the movie (SPOILER) Young boy (implied) castration

I saw the movie "Tom & Thomas" and I noticed the burdizzo along with the tranquilizers, surgical and bondage stuff. I'll agree that the movie clearly implied that one of the two young boys was infact castrated.
But after that the subject of castration was never revisited and the boy didn't seem particularly traumatized. Are we to assume that the film makers felt that applying a burdizzo to the balls of an 11 is something that the kid will just sort of get over so we can have a happy ending?
P.S. A more grown up version of the boy who played the part starred in last year's superhero move "Kick-Ass".

I have a copy of this movie, and the first time I saw that workbench in the basement scene, I almost choked! Someone in production must have known what that was for, and was trying to 'say' something, I think!? Perhaps something that not many were supposed to see? It's a good show, too.

Speaking of boys in movies about castration, did you see "Pelle the Conqueror"? I thought it was sort of interesting that as we hear the landlord screaming as a result of the pain from his castration we see a full frontal nude shot of 12 year old Pelle. The cute little 12 year old is not castrated but it was sort of odd that we see his genitals right when the man is being gelded. Was it a veiled threat directed at our young hero? Sort of a beware of women thing?

I am not sure about Pelle. I think it might have been a "hint," but not aimed at the boy. Nudity such as that abounds in many "Non-USA" films. Different cultures, different beliefs. Great show, though.

Well clearly the boy Pelle (the actor has the same name as the boy in the film) didn't mind getting naked and the director didn't mind asking him to undress. Different cultures and different beliefs indeed.

I've recently watched this movie, and I'm guessing there was a radical script re-write at the end. The TV showing the missing children being returned, and the description of the "Illegal Adoption Ring" seemed very out of place.
When Sean Bean's character found the torture room, it was VERY clear, these children were being "modified" for their prospective clients. Those children were not being sold to overseas parents, but sold as slaves.
What parent would collect their soon to be son or daughter from an animal crate? An eight or nine year old child that had been drugged, beaten and abused. I'm having a tough time seeing where the original writer thought this seemed plausible. I can very easily envision a producer changing the script just enough to make it more TV friendly though.
I don't think either Tom or Thomas was castrated. I do however believe some of the children that went before, were.
I agree, it was an excellent story. Many more implied adult themes than one would expect from a movie with children as the lead characters.

They are both available at Amazon and on Netflix. I just watched Pelle; it is a long but excellent movie. The boy is shown naked in several scenes during the movie. Like someone said, different cultures; and too, the movie was made back in 1987, whether that makes a difference or not.

Yep, it does.
That was prior to the kiddie porn laws in the U.S. to protect children.
BTW, female adolescents, i.e. Brooke Shields did lots of nude scenes (

Again, before the child porn statutes that made pornographers out of teenagers under 18 sending nude images via a cell phone to their love interests.
Some are as adults still registered as kiddie pornographers. This, this, is just wrong. Kids doing these types of things are NOT abnormal...
However, if a minor comes up pregnant from another minor, they DO NOT go on the pornographer list. So. It is O.K. to look, and it is O.K. to fuck, just DO NOT take a picture...

You guys have sharp eyes. I would have never noticed in, but after looking for it, I found it. It's damn sure a burdizzo. Weird as hell for a family movie. I don't think it implied either of these two were castrated, but it may have implied that some of the previous ones were. I think some of the boys, at least, were destined for the Middle East. Perhaps, some of the Saudi princes wanted some little White eunuchs for their harems. I'll bet someone involved with the movie had a big laugh about including that as a prop.
