Being involved with one ranch property and one ranchette I have come to know some farm critters.

Today I saw this story

My co-ranch involves some twenty head used for breeding and selling pasture raised meat. They are slaughtered one per 'visit'. Although several vehicles and new vehicles may drive by, "they" know the sound of the death man's truck and act up. After he does his deed to one of them, they are all calm.

How dumb is that?

Any memories of farm animal experiences? Sweet Grandma killing the chicken is one two unrelated friends carry as scars.

I like goats. They can really be individuals and personable. Good for brush control and milk.

Plants 'feel' stress and pain too so no idealizing vegetarianism here please. Vegans are prejudiced against those not of the Animal Kingdom!

I was once mounted (I was fully cloathed and working in the barn you ornery minded rascals) by a young bull calf. I knocked him off me and had the Vet fix him with a burdizzo the next day. Now I wish I'd had the Vet fix me too.
