I was a bad patient

Post by curious_guy (imported) »

This is why I used to be a bad patient:

1. I had the sheer unmitigated gall to become ill with a physical illness which most physicians have decided not to believe in because the existence of that illness makes the medical profession look bad.

2. I was not super-grateful for every thing the physicians did just because they often made me worse.

If I was a good patient I would have picked an illness that most physicians believed in. If I could not pick my illness, I would have pretended that my physical illness was mental just like the physicians did.

I would have been very, extremely grateful for every treatment physicians provided me, no matter how much it harmed me. I would not have resented the fact that it took me 15 years from the time I first became too ill to work for me to get SSI because the physicians lied and said that there was nothing wrong with me instead of admitting that I had an illness that they were unwilling/unable to diagnose.

I am no longer a bad patient because I have stopped going to physicians. I have not been to a physician in more than 1.5 year and I have decided to NEVER, EVER go to a physician again.
