Things you don't generally hear about cars:

quote: You don't need 7th gear until you hit 240 miles per hour. Or something near that.

And the car has 16 cylinders and 1000 brake horsepower.

Yes, it's a Bugatti... unquote

"Let’s now look at the Bugatti Veyrons performance, top speed is guaranteed to be 400kmh (249mph), an official top speed of 407.5kmh (253.2mph) was achieved twice at Volkswagens Ehra-Lessien test track. On the show Top Gear James May said of this test when close to top speed “the tires will only last for about 15 minutes, but its ok because the fuel runs out in 12".

The Bugatti Veyron is also the quickest accelerating production car in history, reaching 60mph in 2.46 seconds with 200 and 300kmh (124 and 186mph) done in 7.3 and 16.7 seconds.

But this comes at a price with fuel consumption in the range of 5 to 10 mpg, but at full throttle the Bugatti Veyron gets 2.1mpg, which means it would empty its 100 litre (26.4 gallon) fuel tank in about 12.5 seconds."

“the tires will only last for about 15 minutes, but its okay because the fuel runs out in 12"

XD! This just strikes me as really amusing and cool at the same time. :)

I think they meant 12.5 minutes. At that speed you would be able to go just over 50 miles on that tank. 250 MPH is just a little more than 4 miles per minute or just short of 2 gallons burned per minute.

Just to think I was excited to see the Fiat 500 would be imported into this country. After watching many driving the streets of Paris I decided I want one. Not up to the Bugatti of course.

I agree with Losethem on the 12.5 minutes.

Top Gear (the british version) did a road test,

it took them about 5 miles to get it to full speed.

It also changes it shape slightly somewhere over

200 mph.

It must be lots of fun to drive.

:dong:

That is kinda neat and gearhead-terrific.

It's an impressive car but not practical because of all that makes it impressive.

This car is a joke...and it's ugly as sin...If I were filthy rich....I'd probably be in a hot Corvette...Only 3.5 seconds to 60...Christ...what's the diff? Your ass is up by your neck in either one...and I could pocket the one million dollar difference...Perhaps to pay for the gas....

I love cars....and recently purchased a 2011 Sonata...a cheapo model with the 6 speed stick, because that's the only way you can get the standard shift in it...It's really nicely equipped for the 18,300 I paid for it...Sirius radio...all the standard goodies....I could buy 60 or 70 of these with the money for one Bugatti Veyron....ridiculous... Love this topic dragonfly

While the Bugatti would really be a fascinatingly wonderful car I will have to stay content with my super snake Mustang, it only has a meager 700 or so HP.....and just 6 speed/manual.......

But it does tend to straighten the curls in my hair, when I release the ponies for a little exercise!!!!

The latest Vette is actually closer to many Euro exotics as far as cornering abilities are concerned.

Personally, I'd take the latest crop of AMG mercs. They've come far since the days of AMG mercs simply being blunt tools. Steering feel is now on par or even better than M sports Beemers, has a hell of an engine, and most of the 4 door variants can still comfortably seat 5.

If I want a 2 door however, it'll most certainly has to be Nissan's GT-R.
