My new connected world

I've had a single, medium-slow computer running (ewww) Vista and a wired modem for ages, plus a PS3 that was never hooked up to the web before because I hate(d) WIFI.
Well, this week, that all changed.
Installed win7 32 bit on my old computer, and bought a new really hot computer with win7 64 bit (2.5 TB HD, 8 gig ram, Intel i5 650), a Cisco router, and a KVM switch so I can run both computers and flip display on one monitor.
Found a progam to let the new computer act as a "PC server" wireless to the PS3, so I can grab torrents etc (TV shows, movies) and watch them right from the PS3 deck (it can "see" the shared folder on the new PC.
Wow. I'm lovin' this shite right here, bro

Glad you're happy.
You can keep it, though.
I haven't even moved to XP yet.
Probably won't either; giving serious thought to giving up the Internet and going anti-tech.

Been there, kinda. Until 3 years ago, I had dial-up and a really old pc, and I didn't want to modernize.
But... my problem is games and free tv shows / videos. I go through game addictions where I get mesmerized by certain favorites, and while I do buy the odd movie or tv show season, the ease of grabbing them for free is too tempting. I couldn't play any new games with the old PC.
I don't have cable or sattelite; no paid "tv viewing" here at all, except my net connection.
So this week, I finally got tired of living in the dark ages and totally modernized, and I'm liking it so far, but I KNOW, with certainty, within a few weeks, it will all screw up and I'll be left unable to connect to the net at ALL, because of a messed-up router/modem/pc-communication snafu.
The thing is, this huge part of me agrees with you totally; but the speed... oh my gosh, the speeeeeed of this setup.....
drrrooooooooooooool......

I used XP until my computer died (at least no smoke or flames this time). I am now using win7 and I am happy with it although I disabled a lot of the pre-loaded stuff that came with it. --FLO--

I used XP, then moved up to Vista, but that was so crappy, I had to do a massive reinstall of almost everything, more than four times, before my comp finally settled down. Unfortunately, the system started acting up again, so I put Windows 7 on an empty 250GB S-ATA HD, took the old HD out, and then began running Windows 7 - and haven't had any problems in the last 4 months.
Unfortunately, now I have problems, like not being able to log into the chat room. Who do I write to for help with this issue? My browser is Firefox, and supports Java; (I refuse to use IE - cause it is so buggy).
