The walking dead

The other show I watched tonight was AMC's episode 2 of THE WALKING DEAD.
Now I'm not that big of a zombie fan. However, AMC does excellent stuff. Most zombie stories are run away from the dead people and ugliness like that. The pots are thin, the dialog predictable and the situations contrived.
This isn't. This is about the survivors and how they survive and how they deal with dispatching the dead. Not all of the zombies are strangers and smashing the brains out of friends and relatives.
HOWEVER, this episode had a sequence that really did make me wince, grimace and turn away. Holy shit was that situation gory and nasty. I mean, all zombie movies are gross-out stories but this little twist and how it was executed.
oh, and we also saw the hero's wife (they were separated by the disaster) having adulterous sex with another man. That's got to be a devastating kaboom in the future.
Then there is they guy they left behind handcuffed on the roof of a building. His brother ain't going to be a happy camper.
