That is not too far from one suggestion of the origin of witches on broomsticks.

Monkshood (also known as Aconitum) is poisonous, but when absorbed directly into the bloodstream - in small quantities - it produces a sexual high.

You cannot eat anything containing it because the poison acts before it gets into the blood so the only way is to rub an ointment onto the mucus membranes. Any around the mouth or nose are out because of the possibility of swallowing so, the only other area immediately available are the genitals.

Men can simply rub the ointment on, but women need some form of applicator. Since even the poorest household tended to have a besom what better was there than to apply the ointment to the handle and then 'ride the broomstick'.

Well i know a witch who dose not wear any panties but people call her my wife laugh:
