After Dr. Kimmel removed my last small failing testicle, making me a complete eunuch, I noticed several changes, some quickly, some over several weeks and months:

1 - Extreme depression. Some eunuchs don't get depressed at all and even though my little testicle was failing, it was producing enough "t" to prevent severe depression. Once it was gone, I felt like the world was falling on me. I started using some testosterone (Hormone Replacement Therapy). I keep it a low level 100-150.

2 - No erections by the third night - My penis shriveled, it became really lifeless quickly and stays small even now. I was not having many strong erections before hand, but after I was castrated I didn't have any.

3 - No desire for sex - None at all. I did want to be held and I did want to make my wife happy sexually, which I did and still do. I don't push her and I never make the first move.

4 - Hot flashes - These are controlled by using a little testosterone replacement (HRT). I used a compounded cream.

5 - After several years, even with some HRT via compounded testosterone cream, facial hair is less heavy. Body hair has lightened and less pubic hair.

6 - Hips have widened some, I can tell because of the jeans I must buy. I have had some breast growth.

7 - Weight gain - this is a problem for almost all eunuchs. You can't eat like you did before you were castrated.

8 - Critical thinking and emotions - I don't seem to be able to process things as well, but this might be my age (53). I am also more emotional, crying more easily, especially watching movies.

9 - Penectomy desire has surfaced. I did not have this before I was castrated. I believe this is my inner feminine trying to take complete control. My penis is really lifeless and useless, so who knows how long I'll have it. Wife doesn't want to lose it yet.

Things that have not changed: Voice, height, vision.

I was chemically castrated for one and a half years and I have to say that my experiences reflected what the three previous contributors noticed. I never had a severe case of depression, and taking tamoxifen reduced some potential weight gain and breast growth, however. I didn't get any desire for a penectomy but it increased my desire to be permanently castrated so I began alcohol injections this summer.

Hash did a great job of describing what goes on when your castrated. I would only add that now I have no underarm hair, body hair is almost none, very little pubic hair, hair on the top of my bald head has started to grow some again, WAIT don't get your hopes up, its gone from 7 hairs to several hundred that never get longer then about a 1/4 inch.

Other things you should know and do.

Most important, get to your doctor and get a bone scan. This should be done every two years.

Calcium supplements a must to help with bone loss.

Good luck to you,

River

You pinpointed the feeling. Do not know if this qualified for depression, moods were ok (on a good sunny days :)).

Hi River,

I would advise being careful on the calcium supplement. You must have a blood test to see if you are really lacking in calcium ......... or end up like I did by having a mild stroke due to calcified arteries. The surgeon who put stents in said we must get this calcium count down ..... I didn't dare tell him at the time, but did admit it a year later at a check up. He did a great rant and rave about people taking these off the shelf health supplements without knowing if you are deficient in these things, or are a little calcium factory on your own, like I was.

I've been injecting 1-1/2cc's of vodka in each testicle and this past Saturday afternoon was the 11th injection for the "boys"; however early Saturday morning I had a blood test and I got the results yesterday. My testosterone level was 437 ng/dl. I checked the internet and it showed the normal levels to be 350 - 720 ng/dl. So if I keep up with the injections I actually might be able to kill these useless things? I've put on some weight and my "man boobs" have grown slightly (bra time?) and my penis has shriveled up quite a bit and no boners, morning or otherwise................

437 is actually a very normal level. Many people in their 30's to 50's have numbers in that range. I am not quite sure why your penis shriveled and you have gynecomastia.
