The Republican party in Montana wants to reverse all the advances made by gays and lesbians there by making that lifestyle illegal.

The Montana Republican Party Platform (as adopted on June 19, 2010) includes several planks that might be controversial. Here's a sampling....

We support the clear will of the people of Montana expressed by legislation to keep homosexual acts illegal

We agree with Thomas Jefferson and James Madison, who stated that the U.S. Supreme Court does not have the sole authority to judge the constitutionality of federal laws. We hold with these men that the States not only have the right, but also the duty to nullify unconstitutional laws in order to protect their citizens.

We support a return to a gold and silver based monetary system and a strong dollar policy based on intrinsic asset values and not a debased fiat monetary policy.

We oppose any classification of CO2 or other greenhouse gasses as dangerous gasses or pollutants.

We oppose any federal special land designations We urge the Montana Congressional delegation to sunset wilderness study areas. The Montana Republican Party opposes the creation of any additional wilderness areas.

This is the government returning power to the states? Watch out ! I just saw on the evening news a male republican running for an office this fall, with Katie Couric stating that one of his goals was "the DISMANTLING OF SOCIAL SECURITY" I won't be eligible for any social security due to other system, but it would still affect me in seeing many more people begging on street corners.

HOW do we organize to protest or override these financially-backed bigots?

They sound a right collection of neandethals. Why is whenever there is a recession all these doom and gloom self righteous types climb out of the woodwork. Lets find a scapegoat, there are no blacks or jews in montana so lets pick on the next nearest thing - gays. Why blame them when we all know it was the Montana grizzly bears who caused the banking crisis.They make me sick! strutting around in their fur coats and driving stretched limousines.

P.S isn't Montana the place where you are only allowed to marry your cousin?

They can believe what they want. Lincoln settled that in April 1865, with an Army. States cannot pick and choose in the way you described.

No, it's Arkansas that only allows first cousins or siblings to marry.

In North Dakota, men are men and sheep are nervous...

In Montana, like most states, we have all kinds of weirdos; but that doesn't make us all that way.

But in most cases, you'll find that the really radical ones were run out of their previous states and took refuge here, they are not natives.

The ones in the fur coats and stretch limos are escapees from California.
