I admit, I'm kinda suprised that nobody's posted anything about this news story. I found it completely hilarioius, even if it is a little too 'on the nose'.

If you used Google to search for the word "Vatican" this weekend, you probably were surprised that the first result was not "vatican.va" but a pedophile site called "pedofilo.com." Well, maybe you weren't that surprised, unlike Google.

Google Italy spokeswoman Simona Panseri says that they don't really know what happened:

I cannot confirm if it is an attack because I have not had any more precise information from the US engineers to understand the nature of the problem.

It's called a "google Bomb"...

There is a way to manipulate the Google listings for searches. Don't ask me. I don't know how.

You'll see it happen more near the elections. Political hacks do it all the time.

It requires you to build your bomb then call it what you want to look up then put in a program that will search it out several million times over the course of a day. It will pop it to the top as the most popular response to the search.
