A beautiful very short film based on a story by Ivan Coyote. The opening line is I had a sex change once, when I was 7 years old.

A young girl, Robin, doesnt like the swimsuit that her mother has bought for her to wear at swim camp, so she decides to simply not wear the top. For six weeks everyone simply assumes shes a boy. No one notices. No one asks. She loves it.
But, in the end, Mom doesnt understand.
A good look at the meanings of gender in childhood.
Paolo originally sent the link to me. I forwarded it to several friends, including some on the Archive. Transward wrote back saying (among other things) that the film captures a moment that a lot of trans people go through, though the beauty of the story is that it is universal. The girl is not even presented as gender questioning. Rather the issue is presented as one of freedom, something that can speak to more than just trans folk.
