Morticians at a Puerto Rican funeral home chose to display the body of David Morales Colón on his Honda motorcycle rather than in a traditional casket, as shown in the video below.

Colón, 22, was murdered last Thursday in his San Juan neighborhood, Primera Hora reports. For his wake, the Marin Funeral Home dressed the young man in his typical riding clothes, helmet included, on top of his beloved motorcycle.

As Jalopnik put it, "yes, this is real."

This isn't the first time Marin has made headlines for its unusual funerary services, the Associated Press notes. In 2008, the funeral home kept the embalmed body of a 24-year-old man standing throughout a wake that lasted three days.

Only if the bike can be encased before burial; he has to be in a container (ie a coffin [sorry, slumber box] or an urn).

The most unusal part of the story is the media coverage. Disposition of the dead is as unique as the lives lived, creativity of the survivors and in some case (fewer than the media would lead you to believe) budget.

IF they go for cremation then they can dump his ashes in the bike gas tank and then crush the bike.

To have my body properly bathed, scented oils applied, wrapped in light linen and placed in a cave or catacomb to decompose. When only bones are left they might be left alone or placed in a proper ossuary as to make room for the next, decomposer. No worms or maggots. Just the dry air and natural decomposition.

I would think their would be a market for the option of the ancients.

In NYC, Potter's Field is the traditional burial ground for all unknown/unclaimed bodies. If no one else wants a body, the city sends it there. The demand for space is so great that after 5 years bodies are dug up to make room for new ones. I've always wondered what the city does with those bodies dug up after 5 years. I've been unable to find out. I don't imagine I'd like the answer.
