I was just reading "The Passing of a Friend" asking about long time member Ramses. It made me think.

I have not seen any posts from DAUGHTER for some time. She was a senior member and a chat room moderator at one time. I always enjoyed her posts. Does anybody know what happened to her?

She went through some turmoil in her life and, unfortunately, had to move on. --FLO--

Lots of people come and go here. I might have went a long time ago were it not for the message boards.

Ramses was OK, but he was not cool but B conservative.. OK?

I liked Ramses too but I trust the wisdom of Kristoff and Paolo.

I trust 'em too but I'd still like to know what the actual offence was. It is easy to cause offence inadvertently.

Some time back I exploded a can of crap with a reference to W.A.S.P. values, because I was unaware of the connotations the term has for Americans.

I did it again later with a question on the Jewish diaspora which was interpreted as anti-semitic. The posting disappeared before I could offer an explanation (The question was occasioned from watching a documentary on Masada and I was curious about what measures the Romans took afterwards).

So although this site is very tolerant it does have its tabus. Personally I'd prefer to settle controversies by reasoned discussion rather than howls of outraged protest and knee jerk reactions. We should be careful to avoid a neo-McArthyism.
