A 6-month-old baby had his testicles chewed off by two large dogs while he was left strapped in his baby carrier alone in a California apartment, CBS2.com reported Thursday.

Carrie McKinney, 22, was visiting her boyfriend Doug Ritchey’s apartment and left her son in his car seat on the floor. After leaving the room, Ritchey’s two pit bulls tore through the baby’s diaper and chewed off his scrotum.

Police said the baby was taken to a local hospital and then to Loma Linda University Medical Center for surgery—but they were unsuccessful in trying to save his testicles.

McKinney could face charges of criminal neglect, and has lost custody of her son temporarily to Child Protective Services. Both pit bulls are scheduled to be euthanized.

Both of the dogs are to be euthanized... I wish I could get justice served to the two adults who were there at the time the dogs did this....

Maybe we could get some sharks with laser beams on their heads... hell, I would settled for some ill-tempered sea bass for these two who let this horrible thing happent to the baby.

Many years ago (1972), there was a movie called "The Doberman Gang," about a group of bank robbers who used specially trained doberman dogs to rob a bank. In the movie, no armed bank robber entered the targeted bank, just a pack of well trained and very ferocious looking dobermans...

Unfortunately.... there are consequences, always consequences, and most of them unintended consequences of popular movies, they foster fads, which cause really really stupid behavior on the part of people.

For at least ten to fifteen years after that movie was released, there were neighborhood IDIOTS who just had to have their damn doberman dog, usually a pack of them. And surprise of surprises, there were many incidents involving doberman dogs, most of the ferocious doberman dogs were the product of the worst bloodlines, specifically bred and conditioned to be ill-tempered and dangerous (just like their ill-bred owners).

Now it is the same shit, different breed. There are countless IDIOTS out there, who have no idea what-so-ever about how to train or care for an animal. These idiots stupidly assume that if they can afford to buy a dog and feed it, they are capable of being a pet owner...

I absolutely understand the rage and hatred focused on this particular breed (i.e. "pitbull") of dog right now, but we should not hold the animals responsible, the animals are doing exactly what they are bred to do. It is the IRRESPONSIBLE humans involved in these events that need to get that rage and hatred focused on them.

Hypothetically speaking... IF, someone were to purchase bunch of explosives and leave them unattended and unguarded in the open where curious and typically reckless teenage boys could get them... Would that person not be dragged in court to face numerous criminal and civil charges? You cannot blame the explosives for behaving exactly as they were designed to behave, it is the irresponsible person who needs to be made responsible. Same thinking for the dangerous dogs, or dangerous firearms, or dangerous what ever...

A few people actually do have need of a pit bull or doberman type dog, and I honestly believe they should be able to own them provided they are responsible pet owners, mostly junkyard owners, maybe a few store or shop keepers who are in bad neighborhoods, so I believe it is NOT right to vilify the breed of dog. We should vilify the IDIOTS who live in apartments or small homes, yet want to keep insanely dangerous dogs, or other dangerous pets (e.g. chimpanzees, tigers), all the while ignoring the poor animals and neglecting to train or discipline them.

A similar catastrophe was caused by Disney's "101 Dalmatians." Many people who saw the movie just had to have a dalmatian dog. The dalmatian breed is notoriously needy of attention from their owners, but most ill-bred and irresponsible yuppy trash never had time to tend to their "adorable" dalmatian's needs, so a few years after the movie, there was a surplus of neglected and ill-behaved dalmatians.

Cats can be just as dangerous as dogs. Was watching Animal planet the other day and showed a cat chase off a bear.......yes cats rule.
