Hey I was thinking recently, for people here who are in the process of considering if castration is right for them, perhaps a solution would be to have one ball removed first, and then after a period they could decide if they want the other gone?

A single testicle can supply all of the testosterone a body needs to function as a male. It's like losing a kidney, the remaining kidney takes up the slack.

As Dave pointed out you will not get much from having only one ball. All you will get out of empty sack. Smaller package. Hormone levels will return to normal after a while. Look at Lance Armstrong the Speed bike rider. He won race after race while only have one ball.

Only way to experience castration effects while still having balls is chemical castration.

And Lance Armstrong has four children.

For anyone who might not know - Lance Armstrong lost his nut due to testicular cancer.

Sorry, I should have realized that...

His first son (Luke) and twin daughters (Isabel and Grace) were by sperm banked before his chemo and surgery by his first wife.

His second son (Max) came after he broke up with Cheryl Crow and found his latest wife - Anna Hansen. Reports are that Max was conceived in the normal manner -- the horizontal mambo...

I agree with this. At least you have a chance for remorse. You may still have enough T but there is nothing like having the reality of going under the knife to make you think twice, or.... solidify your resolve.

At age 16, I lost my first ball... I continued as a one balled person till I was 53 years old. It did not make all that much difference in my life having only one ball. Everything functioned.

That was my line of thinking as well, see how it feels to have one testicle gone forever so you could still change your mind. Also, after the other ball was gone I'd want to keep the empty scrotum for a bit, just in case I missed its contents too much and wanted to put prosthetic balls in it. If not then that would be gone eventually too.

I understand that prosthetic balls are best put at the time of castration, but there is still a failure rate with them.

Having one ball removed might be an exciting experience, in that you can see it as a partial castration, but I don't think it should be considered as any kind of trial run. Only chemical castration can do that for you. Until you have experienced the changes you feel when your testesterone production is blocked you can't understand how it's going to feel.
