How many here are into watching old Science Fiction from the classic 1950's?
I have about 80 of these movies on videotape. I watched one tonight that was so bad it was funny called "Killers From Space."
The worst from this period is "Plan Nine From Outer Space" and "Robot Monster."

The Ants. Those giant ants in the radioactive desert are imprinted in my brain.
Like the kid in the original, "Invasion from Mars". The sand pit with audio. And the those marks on the back of the neck.
Those are memories! All without CGI.

Clash of the Titans the original but it was still pretty good...though I grew up on Star Trek! Of witch Star Trek was sold as a "Wagon Train to the Stars" according to the writings of Gene Roddenberry.

Just remembered another one...though not from the 50s...
Death Race 2000 the original was pure camp but even today you can joke around with people and say that person is worth 500 points.

Don't forget that the 50s were one of the golden ages of science fiction novels.
Theodore Sturgeon (of Sturgeon's Law fame), early Robert Heinlein, Cordwainer Smith, Frederick Pohl. The list goes on and on. Some truly great stuff.

I always laughed at "The Attack of the Killer Tomatoes".
That was the era when all young Americans went to the drive in but didn't watch the movies. How many of us wouldn't be here if not for movies like that?

As I was reading this thread one movie came to mind, it was a red beach ball, "The Attack of the Killer Tomatoes". must be the very worst of the "B" rated Sci-Fi movies from the 50's.
There were some that were better, the Creature from the Black Lagoon and Rodan and Tarantula were some of my favorites.
Then there was of course Godzilla, Bambi meets Godzilla, Godzilla is Awake and the other 57 Godzilla movies. Bambi meets Godzilla was the best, 1969 short won all sorts of awards, do any of you remember it?
If you don't

If you watch the credit crawl at the end of Tomatoes, you'll see one entry for "Every Nut in San Diego" or some such place...

Watched Kronos, circa 1957, a few days ago. Watched a couple episodes of Fireball XL5 last week.
