For you fans of emasculation (my preferred word) or penectomy, Tanya Simmonds and I collaborated on Public Sentence, an 8-chapter story. The first chapter is now posted to the story archive.

Long-time EA readers will be reminded of another story, Unmanned by the Guillotine, written by Nathan. We have new characters, changed the plot, and gave it a more "hetero" orientation - but, I did request and received an OK from Nathan to borrow his "world" of 19th-century France as the story background.

I will send in Chapter 2 today. It typically takes a few days to appear on EA, for your reading pleasure.

I've recently referred to, and copied into some EA threads, a portion of the end of the story in answer to the question: "How can I experience the erotic drama (and perhaps some pain) of submitting to the penis guillotine without actually chopping off my cock?" So you might recognize that section of the narrative.

Finder and Tanya

I knew as soon as I read that this story had two authors that it would be well written. A single author can pump out a quick story full of punctuation problems and run-together paragraphs, but when there are two one of them is about to fix any problems introduced by the other, and collaboration is something that people only do when they are serious about their art.

As I expected, the writing seems very technically correct. I'm sure that serious proofreading was done. It is well constructed and entertaining prose. I also love the nonconsensual way that the emasculation happens. That's my favorite kind of emasculation because it is filled with so much more emotion. It's very satisfying.

The strange little town that this all takes place in is sure to be a real turn-on for many readers. It does seem to be a clever idea to me and I'm glad that many more chapters set in this town are planned. I'm hoping that the visitor somehow gets into trouble in the later chapters.

On the downside, there is a little bit too much explaining for my taste. Virtually the whole town seems to be explained before anything interesting happens. There is a lot of text without action, a lot of details that I would have rather learned as they became important rather than all at once.

The writers fell victim to a classic mistake that I think tends to happen to many writers after they learn to write well, but before they are sure of how to tell a really fun story. They came up with a great idea for a setting, then explained the setting instead of telling a story in the setting.

It's sometimes called an infodump, and in this case it takes the form of meeting a character who cheerfully explains everything to our main protagonist. If he hadn't met that person and had to learn everything just by observing, the story would have moved a lot faster. Even a well written infodump is still an infodump.

I've only read the first two chapters so far, but it looks like they have wrapped up all the infodumping, so the real story is bound to begin soon. I am looking forward to that.

Fill in the fields on the page and submit the story. It is easy. I have several stories on the archive.

New stories are not visible to archive users until one of the story moderators approve them. It can take a few days. If you go to this page:

You will see that there is one story awaiting approval. (At 7:17 am Pacific time. There might be more later.)

The Stories awaiting approval: item is on the upper left side of the screen.

After your story is approved, it will appear in the recent stories list in the center of the screen. The default is seven days. It can be changed to up to sixty. (Look at the bottom right of the screen.)

After sixty days, you will have to look up your story by the story name or your name (The story name index is in the top right checkerboard. The author name is just below it.
