I am planing to start second trial run of chemical castration with androcur.
Current plans are:
* get a six month supply of androcur (considering 100mg/day dose for the first month and then 50mg/day).
* get initial testosterone levels.
If I like the results after six months - I will search for permanent solution.
Effectiveness of this drug is interdependent with your current testosterone level. If you have a higher T level you may need to take 50mg 3 times a day for a month or two and then slowly decrease the dose. And the drug itself can be a permanent solution if used over a long period of time.
I too did two trails. The second trial turned into a permanent fix. I had a lower T level to start so I took 50mg 2 times a day and on my second trial within a month I had no sexual urges and it was impossible to get an erection and night time spontaneous erections no longer occured and I lost all sexual urges.....except for still craving to be castrated. I am now using 1/2 a pill (25mg) twice a day and will soon try 1/2 a pill once a day. The rule of thumb is to take as little as possible to get the desired effect and then reduce the dose.
Allow anywhere from six months to a year or more for testes to shut down and atrophy. It is such a slow process it is difficult to notice all of the changes that are taking place. But if you document what you are feeling mentally, emotionally, and physically in a personal diary, over time you can look back and realize what changes have taken place. It's like watching a plant grow. If you look at it daily nothing much seems to be happening. But look at a photo you took of it on the first of each month and the changes become very apparent.
Remember to not stop taking the drug "cold turkey". Always decrease dosage by no more than 50mg at a time and go for about two weeks before decreasing it another 50mg. (See drug literature for details on why). I would be guessing that reducing it 25mg a week might be OK, but that is just a guess.
On my first trial I didn't give it enough dose or time although it did work to some degree. What I discovered when I stopped the first trial was that after my T level went back up (to it's below normal level) I did not like how I felt at all. I much preferred how I felt while on the first trial. So the second trial turned into a final trial.
The hypothalamus secretes gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) to the pituitary gland in carefully timed pulses (bursts), which triggers the secretion of leutenizing hormone (LH) from the pituitary gland. Leutenizing hormone stimulates the Leydig cells of the testes to produce testosterone which secrete into the blood to circulate throughout the body. Normally, the testes produce 47 milligrams (mg) of testosterone daily.
It is my understanding that androgel prevents testosterone from being converted into a useable form in the body which results in a testosterone deprived body and eventually, somehow, the complex cycle that causes the testes to produce testosterone is interrupted and once the testes stop producing testosterone, like anything not used, they just atrophy. (or something like that). So as you can see the hormonal interactions in our bodies are very complex as is androcur and use of the drug requires care, monitoring, and responsibility. It is not a levitra or aspirin good for a one time use, or for a now and then use. it is a serious drug that takes time to work and should be used at the minimum dose possible.
I have not heard of any situation where a person (male or female) de-sexed their male partner by adding androgel to their food or beverage, but it certainly seems possible. Something to watch out for ?
Getting rid of the physical, mental, and emotional sexual baggage has turned out to be a much better life style - for me -. Like any addiction, smoking, drinking, gambling, stopping the addiction is almost impossible; but once you do you finally realize the benefits of stopping. Having a sex drive is kind of like that. Once the need to reproduce no longer exists, you can have a far better life eliminating your sex drive in my personal experience. Other addicts will scorn you as crazy, stupid, etc. Think not of them but of your own well being. It's just one of those things; until you experience it for yourself you will never know how good it can be. And certainly fear is a strong motivator for not tinkering with one's sex drive; you fear if you destroy it you will be worse off than before. There is little to fear; if you stop smoking, drinking, or gambling the benefits are many, the risks are few. Pretty much same goes with stopping sex.
Enjoy.
