I've always held the notion that if someone is parked in front of their computer reading, or creating something with Poser (3D graphic art modeling software), that he is NOT out on the streets looking to commit a real crime.

Or are you suggesting that we shouldn't have the story feedback section?

I just want the discussions to reflect in a discussion that no one here is in any way condoning this behavior expressed in any story here.

I think that we have succeeded in that aim.

Of course, the modification of adults is one thing. But the modification of those below the traditional age of consent could be a problem in certain sets of circumstances.

We want to avoid problems. Therefore, what I said and what I asked in the message boards was necessary so that it is impossible to get the wrong idea about the E.A. regardless of what any one individual who comes here might or might not do.

Can you see this? I hope so. We need to make sure that nobody could ever say that these stories are on the E.A. may be a contributing cause.

The E.A. must be a reflection of what happens or of what has happened. It must ever be seen as a cause.

For example. Young people have wrecked cars and that is expected. However, the cell phone is being seen as a reason why they wreck cars. They will wreck cars even if you outlaw cell phones and nobody has them.

...bad things happen in the real world. They will happen whether or not the E.A. has various stories archived. The E.A. is NOT a reason why it happens.

That is what I want the E.A. discussions to impress upon people.

Based on my knowledge, the EA cannot be held responsible in anyway in a criminal court for the actions of a third party.

However, the standard for culpability is FAR lower in a civil court, and if a victim or a victim's family were to sue, there would be a high likelihood that some percentage of responsibility could be attributed to the EA or the people who run it.

Perhaps a discussion with a friendly lawyer would shed some light?

I seem to remember a story (not one from the archives) that had the leaders of the LDS or FLDS castrating a fully grown man for not bending to their wills.

and of course, they paid nothing at all for having done so.

but that's for church leaders. the standards of justice are not the same for everyone. a commoner doing the same thing will indeed fall into the fate as described here, called "Short eyes" in prison, they are despised as much as cop killers, and as an added bonus, states are not letting such persons out after the sentence is been completed. If you were convicted of what kortpeel described, you would go in and never get to come back out. but you would not have to worry about coming back out, because unless you get that protective custody, you will last about a week. things happen when a guards back is turned. and in this case, they would happen to you.

I am NOT sure that such a civil case could be won and certainly with the prevalent recent rulings of the Supreme Court any award would be thrown out on Constitutional grounds. Witness what they have done for Fred Phelps and the WETasshole Baptists...

Regarding the "Mormon Church" and the story in the archive... if true that story is from over 100 years ago. Things are much different today. Any church that condones these things discussed on this site would fall from lack of members.

There is plenty of solid academic research on the correlation of pornography and sex crimes – much of it already referenced (with bibliography) elsewhere on the Eunuch Archive.

From research conducted in several different countries around the world, it is clear that there is a strong correlation between the ready availability of pornography (especially on the Internet) and the incidence of sex crimes:

The more readily available pornography is, the FEWER sex crimes that are reported!

Correlation is not causation, but the hypothesized causal link is that those who are staying indoors with their pornography are not outdoors committing crimes.

After Oliver Stone's movie, Natural Born Killers, came out a Couple emulated the characters in the movie by going on their own cross country crime spree. Should Oliver Stone be prosecuted or sued because some crazies were inspired to emulate the characters in his movie? Should he have needed to post a disclaimer, "This movie is fiction?"

I have no doubt that crazies have been inspired to do crazy things by literature since literature came into existence. If an author took that into consideration before writing, he would never write anything but inspirational and self help books.

I like to read books about murder, mayhem, and intrigue. So far, I have not murdered anyone; and I've been reading them for a hell of a lot of years.
