I just have to bring this up! I don't care what your religious view point is, but what Pat Robertson said today is a whole new low (even lower then my low which is pretty low). If there is devil then Pat Robertson is his pawn!

What did Pat Robertson do? He blamed the victims:

And you know Kristi, something happened a long time ago in Haiti and people might not want to talk about it. They were under the heel of the French, uh you know Napoleon the third and whatever. And they got together and swore a pact to the Devil. They said we will serve you if you'll get us free from the French. True Story. And so the Devil said "OK, it's a deal." And they kicked the French out. You know, the Haitians revolted and got themselves free. But ever since, they have been cursed by one thing after the other.

Pat Robertson dose not know what he is talking about so let him blow wind and go on with your life.If God punished people like that we all would be tost by now.God will one day judge this wicked world but this isent the time.Yes we are to watch for the bible says we are in the last days and these days will be so bad two thirds of man kind will be killed. At this time he will come back as promised and judge this world.I know most in here do not beleave but what if you are wrong and the bible is right.Trust in God and he will take you to be with him.But poor pat is dead wrong on so many things and this is just another.

I'm with sag on this one. Why should Haiti be singled out by God. There's lots of evil to go around: Afghanistan, Iran, Iran, Bosnia, Rwanda, and the list is endless.

Unlike other nations, Haiti has lived in dire poverty since slavery. They suffered under two brutal dictatorships by father and son dictators.

As far as Robertson's assinine comment, every nation whose people were enslaved probably prayed to the devil as a last resort to free them.

Hell, I would have prayed to anyone, sought salvation from anyone to be Free of slavery.

Personally I would like very much for some TV type to smash Robertson's comment like a piƱata. Statements that are not refuted become accepted fact whether they be true or not.

You'd let garbage statements like that stand?

Can't you see the subtle racism his comments imply?

Haiti is black and bad. The USA doesn't want those sub-humans on their doorstep. They are the damned of God. Sinners who don't deserve our help.

And worse, they are French.

The senile old bastard wants his plantation slaves back serving him mint julips and tending his crops.

That's Pat Robertson, man of God for you...

I just caught Kathy Lee on TV. She was saying how she knows Robertson really well and he's such a good man that she's sure he misspoke and that encouragement is needed now rather than condemnation. That was as far as she was willing to go in a smack down.

Kathy Lee also admitted she knew nothing about Haitian history.

My Bible does not understand Roberson's viewpoint on many issues, especially this one. He preaches hate and separation. This in contrary to what one will find in the Bible, the Koran, or the foundation of any of the mono-theistic faiths.

Speedvogel, I don't want to damage your faith, but what you have just said is not correct by any stretch of the imagination. Sure you will find love preached, but you will also find many things of hate, genocide, slavery, et al.

From the Koran:

2:191 And slay them wherever ye find them, and drive them out of the places whence they drove you out, for persecution is worse than slaughter. And fight not with them at the Inviolable Place of Worship until they first attack you there, but if they attack you (there) then slay them. Such is the reward of disbelievers.

2:216 Warfare is ordained for you, though it is hateful unto you; but it may happen that ye hate a thing which is good for you, and it may happen that ye love a thing which is bad for you. Allah knoweth, ye know not.

Then from the Bible it talks about rules for slavery (and thus justifying the practice), plagues given to Egypt, genocide for the people in the promised land.

Jesus himself it quoted as:

10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.

10:35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.

10:36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.

10:37 He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

So what if I am wrong, what if you are wrong about Thor or Wotan?

I think this whole situation should not be infused with religious thinking. This Pat Robertson guy is certainly a blowhard and shouldn't have any attention paid to him. This problem was not caused by any god, it was caused by tectonic plate movement. The solution can only be found in the actions of people, I just hope that it is the right response.

>In the words of Jesus in the Bible:

Matthew 25 34:39

The Parable of the Goats and Sheep

34 "Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world.

35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited

me in,

36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.'

37 "Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink?

38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you?

39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?'

40 "The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'
