Not long ago I received the most recent of several (about ½ dozen) suggestions that I should do a quasi-medical piece about the pros and cons of neutering preteen boys. So far I've done nothing about it, being a bit apprehensive that the topic has been done to death.
I'd like some other members' views.

Re: To geld or not to geld.....
I think you would do well on that, C.
While your Simon storys always feed our need for a STORY in the story, you don't enter into the above argument that much, except in your shorter, 'screenplay' style pieces.
I enjoy your approach to the subject. You could include many governmental / participant character types; the strongly against a la Mr. T above; the uncertain-but-tolerant, like the Headmaster of Simon's school; the generally 'for' such as the good school-doctor in your most recent piece, and the strongly 'for', such as a Dr. Geller type.
Sally forth, and all that !

Re: To geld or not to geld.....
I agree with StefanIsMe
I started this thread yesterday in something of a hurry.
There have been two quasi-documentaries about "Neutersol" which I must admit were the inspiration for the "Simon" series. Besides my parallel universe in which the neutering of boys is discretionary with no particular age limit, there have been numerous others in which the practice is mandatory: naming no names but just giving two examples, one where the boys have their testicles destroyed by injection at age 11 and another where they have them totally removed at 15. If I searched I'm sure I could find others. Hence my suspicion that I've said all I can on that particular topic. This has led me to explore other fields: the spoof classical "Alexis tells his story" and dramatising parts of Sailorboy's "Daddy's Little Boy".

I have to side with mrt on this one. I suppose all in here should keep in mind that our, including me, fantasies and needs are not shared by the entire rest of the world.

Re: To geld or not to geld.....
Only do it if it is therapeutic for you. If you need to re-visit these emotions and work through feelings so that you come out better on the other side.
Remember, if you do not get beyond this, and you enjoy revisiting it time and time again, it will devour you.
It can get addictive. Just like poor Michael Jackson, who kept getting his nose worked on until he almost had no nose left...
