No plot in many of the stories.
There seems to be little or no plot in a lot of the stories here. I wonder why would an author of a story not want to have a plot for the story they write? In my opinion, the plot can make a bad story good or the other way around, so writing a story can be difficult I know. But some stories I have read on here well it just seems like the author just didn't even try on it. I am not the type of person to point out anyone or point to a story and say, " That person just sucks at writing" or anything of that nature. Just wondering why there are many stories on here that have basically no plot.

Tell me about it.

Oh, venerated story master, my sympathies!

Re: No plot in many of the stories.
Diversity is the spice of life. I like to have some "plotful" stories when I want to embark on an elaborate fantasy, and some "plotless" ones when I just want a quick jerk off.
Besides, don't ignore the imagination of the reader. The "plotless" ones leave a lot of blanks that the reader can actively fill.

Re: No plot in many of the stories.
Maybe my old brain isn't up to what it used to be, or I don't read the "plotless" stories.
A new story that I really enjoyed is "Community College" by Zipper. Tell me, do you consider this story to have a plot?

Yes, it has a plot. Actually, it has a good theme.
It was well written and interesting - for a change from the usual dribble.

Oh, and the author understands grammar and punctuation. I just adore punctuation, especially when someone USES IT.

Re: No plot in many of the stories.
I agree with the basic sentiment here, but also would mention that sometimes, some of these plotless and/or poorly written storys are some poor sods' one and only attempt at getting a particular feeling, fetish, thought, or dream out on paper.
Some of them do read like a persons' first attempt of any kind at writing, and yep, they can suck harder than a good Hoover, but sometimes they hit on an idea I like, so I read 'em anyway.

Re: No plot in many of the stories.
Several of the good stories around here are just a few paragraphs, a quick sketch of the moment of realization when someone know suddenly that they are going to lose something irreplaceable. In the shorter forms of the short story, a full plot is not always necessary. That said, that leaves a lot of poor stories with neither plot nor anything else to grab our interest.

So true. Some times I read a story that's basically a 10,000 word sentence....which is very, very ANNOYING.
