TRT for those with their testicles still

Hi,
Something I've been wondering about for a while. I guess this would also apply to steroid abusers, but I'm not sure.
Due to being low testosterone I have to take my T by injections. I know this shuts down the testes and causes atrophy over time. I also know adding HCG can restore size and turn things back on as it were.
What I'm wondering though, if you are on T long enough and stopped taking it for whatever reason, would you be effectively castrated at least for a period of time? I'm not planning to test this out, I have bone weakness due to low T and don't want to make things worse. I've been taking Boniva for a few years and the bones are strengthening. Just wondering is all..?
Just seemed an interesting idea..castration from testosterone.
