Night sweats getting bad - Siterone and Sandrena Gel

Hi all,

I normally take 100mg of Siterone before I go to bed and then take 1mg Sandrena Gel oestrogen after I shower in the morning. Lately I have been getting really bad night sweats. Should I be taking the oestrogen before bed or is it possible that 1mg isn't enough?

Any comments or advice is appreciated.

Hi Dana,

I don't think this will make any difference due to the half-life of the Siterone, which is quite long I believe. I too am on 100 mg of Siterone (actually 125) but spread out the dosage so have half a tab in the morning, a full one at midday after lunch and half at night , generally around 8 PM. It may be that the full 100mg at night close to sleep time is overloading you with a rush of cyproterone. I have found the steady dosage spread out over the day has not caused me to have any night sweats. I am on 2 estrogen patches (Climara 100) simultaneously which is I believe equivalent to 4 mg Estrogen in tablet form .

Perhaps You would benefit from 2 x 1mg gel. Don't forget the 75mg low dose aspirin to help with clotting too

You can see the results in my Blog.....

If you're getting menapausal symptoms like night sweats then I would think your estrogen level is not high enough.

I think I am going to go ahead and start doing one gel in the morning and another before bed. Thanks for the advice!

ugh..these sweats aren't getting better yet but i imagine it takes time. another horrible thing i am experiencing is 'cold flashes'. as i almost fall asleep i get this horrific shaking cold feeling. kind of like when you have a fever and are covered up and can't stand to move because of the chill it causes. has anyone ever experienced this? it totally sucks.

It usually takes me a week or so for the hot/cold flushes & night sweats to go away when I've went from no estrogen back up to a normal dosage. :)
