Hit counter in images question

I use a couple of image hosting websites so that I can post links to them in forums. I would be interested to know how many people actually link to an image. Can I include a hit counter within the image, either visible to all, or only to me? Would it trigger an anti-virus program?

I don't think it is possible to do that within an image. Picture files are DATA, not Programs. You'd need a Program to create a hit counter.
It is possible to put a hit counter onto the Server (ie: image hosting website). But that would be up to the owner of the Server -- not something you can add, they would have to do it.
