Just started Depot Provera

I finally started my Depot Provera injections on July 21. I began with two 150 mg injections, one on each side of the upper portion of my butt, and I'll be following these up with one injection every 3 weeks. Both injections were easy to do and the needle was virtually painless. I had a little burning at both injection sites that started about an hour afterward which lasted for about an hour then the soreness started along with a small lump which appeared at each site. I woke up yesterday feeling pretty sore in my left side while my right side was only about half as bad. It's pretty clear now that I have to work on my technique because if you inject in the wrong spot the soreness can be worse than normal. Today I was pleased to wake up with no soreness on my right side and only minor soreness on my left. The lump on my right side is also gone and the lump on the left is about half the size that it was yesterday.

I really like the idea of doing 1 injection every 3 weeks verses taking pills every day. The needle doesn't hurt and your butt only stays sore for about 2 days afterward and overall it's really not bad at all.

I've been asked why I chose DP over Androcur and the reason is that it takes longer to reduce your testosterone level and it seems to have the fewest side effects. I want it to take longer so my mind and body have time to adjust to the changes. Mainly I'm trying to avoid bad hot flashes, sweating, and fatigue. I might have some at some point but hopefully to a lesser degree or better yet, none at all.

My main goal at the moment is to reduce my sex drive to a comfortable level and then see how low I can reduce my testosterone level after that. I'm hoping to see the morning wood and the spontaneous erections go followed by my sex drive. I'm not concerned about the possible total loss of erections and orgasms. I think I've already had more than my fair share of these anyway considering that my chronic masturbation habit has become more of a way to relieve the urge rather than for enjoyment.

Also is there a way to get an email alert when someone responds to your post on the message board or sends you an email, or a message? I haven't seen that feature so far but I haven't done a thorough search for it either.

Well I just wrapped up day 5 after the first two shots and now day 6 is already here. I noticed that I was a little moody on day 4 and a tiny bit today. It wasn't really anything out of the norm but it just didn't feel the same as a normal patch of moodiness. My sex drive is lower than it has been in recent weeks and I haven't had any spontaneous erections at all today which is unusual. I also haven't seen much of the morning wood either accept for a tiny short lived erection over the last 2 days. Normally I have very strong morning erections that can last on rare occasions up to a half hour if I stay still in bed, if I get up they go away quickly.

I'm still not convinced yet that it's the depot provera taking effect this early after the first shots were taken. It could just be a normal fluctuation in body chemicals causing it. Now if I wake up in a few days and find that I'm impotent, then I'll know for sure. That's not going to happen though, so I'm just going to ignore it until something more tangible takes place.
