For several years before I was castrated, my weight was stable at 150 lbs. Eight months later my wieght is now 163. This is the heaviest that I have ever been in my life! If this keeps up, I'll be 180 by Christmas.

Already I am noticing the effects of the extra pounds. My waist has acquired a "spare tire" and I cannot walk as far or as fast as I used to.

Clearly my diet needs to change. I don't drink alcohol or sodapop. I don't smoke. And I rarely eat "fast food." I have cut out all snacks like potato chips, but my weight is still increasing. HELP!

Might just be age related ... Do you know what your T levels are?

I have noticed no signifigant change in my weight, but then i am on a steady low dose of T. I actually have more energy now, since my body is not dealing with the pain I had pre-castration.

Several others I chat with report that they seem to find it easier to pick up a few pounds, but overall , have little need to seriously diet.

What is you T level, and what sort of exercise do you get ?

163 pounds - 150 pounds = 13 pounds of fat

13 pounds of fat * 3 500 kcal per pound of fat = 45 500 kcal

45 500 kcal / 240 days = 190 kcal / day

Scary how easy it is to gain weight!

If you google "testosterone" and "Basal Metabolic Rate", you will find that hypogonadism lowers BMR by several percent. 190 kcal / day is just under eight percent of your pre-surgery BMR (~2500 kcal / day), so it is likely that orchiectomy has caused your weight gain. Sorry to be depressing

As for me, I have been losing weight steadily since my surgery, but I am on estrogen which compensates for the loss of testosterone in maintaining BMR. Also, the surgery and estrogen have relieved my body image issues, which has made it easier for me to motivate myself to eat correctly and exercise.

In a few weeks I will be castrated 4 years. My weight increased a few pounds. I also no longer work. So my physical active is greatly reduced. That and getting older would also account for the weight gain. Think it is around 5 pounds. I am about 15 pounds more then around 30 years ago.

I have always been an emotional eater so my weight yo-yo's. I am currently at my heaviest. What I notice being a eunuch is where the fat decided to gather. My body is not like it was when intact but I am so much happier in it. So for the time being I will be shopping at the local JC Penney's Big and Tall shop.
