androcur

Hi again folks. Day five and what a nice feeling!

Anyway, I'd like to pose a question. This week, as I've chatted with some, it has come up that with long term use of androcur it can put the testicles in a state that they will not recover from, hence permanent castration.

My long term plan was to make sure I felt good about this decision and then have them removed. If I continue to feel this way, my mind is made up. But, if the andro will kill them, i'll just continue this regiment. I think I read that long term (about a year?) will have that effect.

Anyone?

Well, I just went to GOOGLE and typed in "androcur long term effects", got a lot of hits, but none that settled the question of whether or not long term use of androcur puts the testicles permanently to sleep.

So the questions is....if this DOES happen, would you be happy with this result? Would you be happier with this result if you had banked some sperm, as do men having a vasectomy? I hope someone else can track downa definitive answer to this question.

thank you andrew.

well, i'm 47, second wife (and last) 7 kids and had a vasectomy 12 years ago. not really concerned about reproduction (been there, done that a few times).

my whole interest is in control and therefore being faithful and focused, just as i am now. my wife has agreed to chemically killing them, not to physical castration. hence my query.

any help would be greatly appreciated (maybe gonex would accept me as a guiney pig ;) )

I myself ordered Androcur via the WWW.

I took it for a few weeks, and I can only tell that it did not change my possibilty to perform in any way!!!

(and a real good hard-on was no problem, either...)

I have been using androcur for most of this year. I have no doubt that it has resulted in chemical castration. Not only has my temperment changed, but I am have the experience of significant hot flashes from time to time. My plan is to continue on this course for the summer. If I continue to like the change, I will undergo physical castration in early fall (appointment is made---just waiting out the calendar--and double checking my emotions).

Each day, I am more convinced that castration is good thing for me. As I near 50, I am uninterested in reproduction, am concerned about cancer risks, and choose to focus my time and interests on things that are more important to me.

A quote from the Schering (drug mfg) data sheet:

In the man, under treatment with Androcur, sexual drive and potency are reduced and gonadal function is inhibitied. These changes are reversible following discontinuation of the therapy.

The data sheet also gives some insight in maintaing a reducion of sexual drive as a maintenance dose.

I have read the same thing from my instruction sheet in the box. My question was more along the line of long term use (> year). A few have told me that this long or longer will lead to permanent castration, your testicles won't recover.

This is my question to those out there that might have used androcur long term.

another question along these lines.....

before i ordered my androcur i asked a bunch of questions. one of the questions was about the dosage. what i was told is that you begin with an initial dosage and then cut back to a maintenance dosage. this was confirmed by the instructions.

my original plan was this; one week at 200mg/day (100 morning 100 evening). i would then reduce to 100mg/day (50 - 50) and then after about a month throttle back to about 50mg/day (25 - 25).

i chatted with another member last night who's also on androcur and he has stayed at 200mg/day for the last six months (since he began). he reasoning is that he wants to achieve chemical castration and he does not want to slip back. well, neither do i but i don't want to endanger my liver nor waste money.

anyone else care to chime in? i'm continuing the 200mg/day until i figure this out.

Hi Joe,

Yes I am the other member that is using 200 mg per day but I started with 100 then 150 and finally 200. For me I got the effect I wanted almost with the lower doses but not untell I went to 200 did I get the results I wanted. I know that each person may have a different amount that works for them and you need to try to find your happy point. Also remember to see a Doctor, somthing I did for the first time a week ago and should have started seeing him last fall. I love my new life as a eunuch and look forward to seeing Doctor Spector this summer. Good luck to you all and remember be safe.
