It's a nice test of one small bit of American culture. I could have written it. Non-Americans, e.g., the international students I taught, would not have done well on it. The class that I once taught at the university on "American Culture for International Students" didn't cover this specific topic, but it covered related ones....

Most of those were easy, but if you are gay like I am, I think I would choose to stand to the best looking guy so I could chance a glance at the package!

As you say, the CORRECT answer does depend on your orientation, and how brave you are! A common problem is that often the urinals are placed so close together, that you rub shoulders with the next guy, or get splattered if he gushes like a cart-horse!:-\

I too am gay, and yet I followed the unwritten rules untill the last one. When confronted with that I just walk away and come back later, unless I really have to go then I pick out the cute one and stand next to him.
