But now I think I know what is going on. All those polls? Every reply to a poll is considered another posting, even if no message is added. Whether this should be the case, I have my doubts, but in any case I think that explains the anomoly.

How many postings?
Whenever I log into The Eunuch Archives, I am informed that there have been "x" amounts of postings on the message board in the last 24 hours, but I never see anything close to that in reality. Also, I get informed that someone has responded to a thread where I had a posting, I go to that thread, and their is no new posting.

Re: How many postings?
On polls, yes, a vote throws it.
Also, if Windoze swept up your cookies at some point in time, you're just all messed up. But a vote does count as a new post, yes. A glitch in VBulletin, IMHO. One other thing that annoys me is if there is a new post, I read it, I then go to the parent board, and then back to the main board, the indicator STILL shows new posts. Oh well ... nobody's perfect.

The blurb on the home page show the number of posts in the last day ... literally .... 24 hours. Where 'New Posts' shows, in theory, what is new since the last time YOU visited.
