I am new to computers and would like to know how to 'cut and paste'.

also how do I send work from microsoft word, to the story section on the archive. I've got some good story's to send.

Select the text you want to paste. Hit control-C. Open the application you want to paste into. Position the cursor in the correct location. Hit control-V. The text will be pasted. I use cut and paste to submit stories.

1. Go into Microsoft Word and bring up your text.

2. Select the text you want to cut-and-paste.

- Easiest way to do this is to move the mouse-pointer to the beginning of the text, then hold the button down, and move the mouse-pointer to the end of the text. If you've done this correctly, the text will be highlighted.

- Alternately, you can click on the "Edit" menu at the top of the screen, then click on "Select All".

- Alternately, you could also hold down the CTRL key then press A.

- Finally, most programs (including Word) will also allow you to RIGHT click, then click on Select All.

3. Click on the "Edit" menu. Then click on Copy.

- Alternately, you can hold down the CTRL key then press C.

- Alternately, you could also RIGHT click, then click on Copy.

4. Go into the Story Submission section of the Archive. Make sure the cursor (where text shows up when you type) is in the Story Submission area.

5. Click on the Edit menu. Then click on Paste.

- Alternately, you can hold down the CTRL key then press V.

- Alternately, you could also RIGHT click, then click on Paste.

Did you guys really just give the WORST instructions to a novice EVER? GEEZ!!

Your mouse has a click function, basically push down on the left top side for a left click, or the right top side for a right click, easy stuff, but may seem complex. Just use your forefinger to gently push down on the whole mouse. you will hear a click. Doing this on the left side of the mouse serves a different function than doing so with the right side.

First, click on the Post Reply button at the bottom of this thread. This will bring up an area where you can type words, you can also paste in this area.

just below this you will see all the posts in this thread. Find this post and put you cursor (the little arrow that moves by direction of the mouse) and point it at the very first word in this post "Did you guys...", Then click and hold the left side of your mouse and move the cursor, this should highlight words. Once you have highlighted what you want to copy (this may take some practice) release the left side of the mouse. Your text should be highlighted by a blue or pink overlay. Whatever is covered by this overlay will be copied. Now do a click with the right side of the mouse. That will bring out what is called a drop down menu, One of the choices is to "copy". point the cursor at the word copy and do a click.

If done correctly, you should now be ready to paste. Move your cursor back up to the area where you can write stuff and left click to put the typing cursor where you want it then, right click and your copied material should appear. Practice a little and this will become second nature.
