Feminization and sterility

I'm taking Avodart- inhibits conversion of testosterone to the more potent form DHT- and have noticed that I don't get erections: spontaneous or even when I try to stimulate myself. My penis is much smaller flaccid and very rubbery and flimsy when I try for it to become erect. Is it permanent? I've taken it for about four months and also tried a femininizing herbal product that I think might have intensified the effect. What I have noticed, I don't know if anyone else on chemicals or hormones has, is that at times I have a pain in my testicles and sometimes they feel swollen and at other times they feel smaller, much smaller. I don't know if this is a form of oedema- fluid accumulation- or if it's something else. Additionally, when I do ejaculate I'm almost completely limp now, and instead of the streams that would shoot out before I now have totally clear water droplets that spray out with much force. Without a blood test, does this sound like the meds have permanently sterilized me- or at least impaired spermatogenisis? I still have just as high a sex drive but now I can't get it up. I am thinking of maybe trying a low dose of estrogen, as I am accepting that I might well in fact be transgendered and I've never been brave enough to accept.

I went to the test data for the drug. http://us.gsk.com/products/assets/us_avodart.pdf

Adverse Reactions Reported in ≥1% of Subjects Over a 24-Month Period and More Frequently in the Group Receiving AVODART Than the Placebo Group (Randomized, Double-Blind, Placebo-Controlled Studies Pooled) by Time of Onset

Parts from the table 1

Adverse Reactions Impotence Decreased libido Ejaculation disorders

AVODART -------- 4.7% -----3.0% ----------1.4%

Placebo ----------1.7% ----- 1.4% --------- 0.5%

The numbers drop over time to lesser numbers.

Judging from the data I would say that the results you are getting are not drug related to any great degree. Reading the other parts of the report seems to say that it mostly effects the prostrate.

My book says that adverse effects include Impotence, decreased libido, decreased volume of ejaculation. Also a caution that partners may become pregnant.

If pregnancy is a possibility, you are most likely not sterile, especially not permanently.

I think its worth exploring if you are transgendered and if so how to go about doing it correctly. If it were me I would do some searching for a gender therapist. Someone that does this regularly that you can talk to about these feelings. If you see one and find its a good match (You can open up and talk) then start to look for a doctor that can help you with hormones, and regular labs to make sure your not screwing up your liver (for example) and to get your Testosterone down and estrogen up in normal female levels. Then I think you need to evaluate how that works for you and if thats good just start living a normal life for a while. Probably at some point you will to seek out a surgeon to do GRS (or not... Not everyone feels the need for surgery)

I would strongly advise against doing it yourself hormones etc. It might seem a tad embarrassing to speak to someone about it but I'm sure your Doctor will understand and be able to advise you. If that idea doesn't appeal at least look for a Gender Therapy Expert.
