Threads staying unread
A few days ago, I noticed that one thread stayed marked unread even after I had read it several times. Today the same thing happened with the thread in Eunuch Central with the subject of "Pay the bill".
If I click on "Mark forums read", the threads are marked read. Has anyone else noticed this?

Re: Threads staying unread
I've always had the issue of reading a thread, no matter what browser, and having it still be unread. This depends on how I navigate. I have to "climb" back out forums, step by step, until I hit the main page again to have it show as "read."
If I read this thread, then just go back to the main Board page, it is still marked "unread".
Also, if I linger in a thread too long, everything is marked "read" when I refresh. I don't know why that is, and I've looked.

Re: Threads staying unread
I have discovered that I have the problem only on my laptop and not on my desktop. That probably means that I have something wrong with my EA cookie on the laptop. Do you have any advice?

Try refreshing your cookies on the laptop. Sometimes they get a glich in them and cause that issue.

I can not find a refresh cookies command in Firefox 3.0.8.
Can I just delete the cookie and allow Firefox to create a new one? If so, which one of the EA cookies do I delete? There are 15 of them.

Yes, you can delete them and allow it to create new ones. The best thing to do is delete them all, you'll have to login again to create a new cookie for that. That should reset them and hopefully fix the problem.

Re: Threads staying unread
I don't think it has anything to do with your cookies on a particular computer. I think it's a vbulletin thing. Sometimes - not just on this site - vbulletin will mark posts read that I have not read, and often it won't mark them read, even though I've read them. I always have two computers on, often using Firefox on one and IE on the other, and I might switch from one to the other. If a post is marked read on one computer, it's marked read on the other, so it must be vbulletin doing it not the individual computer's cookies.
As Paolo said, if I linger too long in a thread, it will likely mark everything read.

That is not what I have experienced. This thread stays unread on my laptop but is marked read on my desktop. I use Firefox on both computers.

After you've read everything, go down to the bottom of the main VB page and hit "Mark Forums Read". That will reset your cookie.
