worried about an inguinal orchi

Hi everybody,

Couldn't find an introductions area, so just quickly some info on me: I'm MtF, currently in transition. I've been on HRT for about two years and FT for about a year. I don't know that I'll ever have SRS, mostly due to price and dubiousness about current techniques, so I went ahead and had a bilateral inguinal orchidectomy this past monday.

The procedure went off without a hitch and I was sent home the same day, but I don't seem to be recovering as quickly as the surgeon described I would. Specifically, the left side of my pubic area is numb, which I understand is a normal consequence of nerve damage, but the right side is extremely painful when I'm vertical, either sitting or standing. It feels like there's a little ... bump about halfway down the side of the pubic area, almost right in the bend with the leg, and like the pain is coming from there. It's got me pretty freaked out, and I checked the web for info but couldn't find anything. A friend suggested I come ask y'all, so yeah, thanks in advance for any insight.

Mina.

Being a little numb on one side after a Radical is normal (for me) but I don't think its worth worrying about. This seems to get better with time. THe pain part I would report to your doctor. The best way (I think) to do this is to remove as much of the cord as possible. Cut high! If there is a lot of cord flopping around it may try to reconnect to the side of the inguinal canal or ?? And that can cause pain. If you don't have luck with the original surgeon consider speaking to a pain relief doctor. They specialize in post op pain etc.

Get better soon!

Aw thanks! :)

And thanks for the advice. I'm leaving it till Monday, but if there's still no improvement I'm going to camp out in front of his office door. :D

There is of course some pain to be expected. I can't remember how many days I just took the pain drugs and slept... It was a while and I WAS sore after that. What I can say is that long term I feel fine. The one side is just a tad numb but nothing serious. For me pain was the primary reason I had this done (Orchialgia) so I did a lot of R&D on how to do it right. And I spoke with a very good pain doctor who (I think) gave me good advise.

While I'm not transexual (Unless you count m2M) I've read a lot. I think you should not give up on GRS if you feel this is what you want. Lets face it a lot of us are putting things on hold due to this insane economy. I think it will get better someday SOON!!! I HOPE!!!

Keep your eye on the brass ring.

I'm happy to report that it's been much better since this morning, and I think I'm through the nasty stuff. The lump I was talking about has subsided, so I'm assuming it must've been internal swelling of some kind, and yeah, most of the associated pain has abated substantially. I'll still be bending the surgeon's ear when I see him on Wednesday, just to be sure, but I think my fear was largely unfounded. ... *touch wood*

Thanks so much for the willing ear Mr.T. I have a tendency to freak out over things, and yeah, just thanks. 🙏

Relax, please. Some swelling is to be expected. Take some pain pills and relax - take it easy for a while. Surgery, even minor surgery, causes a major shock to the body. You will recover with time. Some of us had a bad time of it, others not. You sound like one of the luckier ones.

Hi Mina. Glad I could help. I've been down this road and it feels and looks ugly for a while. I remember thinking that I looked pretty good post op. Then the next day? Sheesh! Black and blue and looking like a trick ran over me. The good part is that pain and all the black and blue went away and life is good!

Anyway, hang in there. Now that you don't need any anti androgen drugs take care with the Estrogen that you don't OD! :D
