In my conversations with several non T eunuchs there seem to be no changes in mood, weight gain, or energy levels after one year. Is it then, correct that after about 9 or 10 months , no further changes take place?

One major thing you need to watch is Osteoporosis. Your chance of getting it is very high. You should have a test taken now if you have not already done so. Weight gain will remain more easy. Depression can still be a factor that could develop if you have second thoughts later. Mood and emotional changes can always change in life. You will experience them different now then before. How you react is different. It would be hard to say if they are castration related. You are living a different life now.

I will be voluntarily castrated later on this month by an MD and have been researching the pros and con of going on hormones. At present, and this may change, I do not plan to go on hormones except for calcium supplements. Weight gain is a concern, but I can handle that. Your reaction??

regreen,
I had only the left testes removed surgically, a month ago. The remaining testes is not picking up T-production, and my level fell below 140. I have received 2 T-injections, 3-weeks apart. The reason, I was tired and lethargic, moody, gained 10 pounds overnight, lost my libido. The shots perked me up in 3-days, and did not turn me into a raving sex-maniac.
Being 4 weeks out of surgery, I am still suffering extreme swelling. The testes was removed ilingually, and was removed because it was cancerous. The swelling is deep inside, becomes severe during the day, and goes down when I lay down. I found compression, in the form of spandex bikini bottoms, a few sizes too small, goes a long way to make it easy to get around during the day with minor discomfort.
I feel the HRT was right for me, and I have a T-implant scheduled in a few weeks. After the initial surgery heals, we'll start looking at what to do with the right side.

Be careful and get regular bone density scans. Even with calcium supplements, osteoporosis can still creep in.

Medications such as alendronate, in combination with adequate calcium intake, may help stave off osteoporosis for some people, and adequate exercise, to the extent exercise is safe for a particular person, may be profoundly useful in minimizing osteoporosis.
