OK,

If I had gone the chemical route instead of the surgical route, I probably would have gone with androcur, as you take tablets by mouth rather then have to put up with painful injections.

I have been on Androcur sense September and loving it. It gives you a chance to try out castration before surgery see if this is the right move for you. For me, it has been great. For the first time in my life I feel like I am in control. I guess the reason I picked Androcur was that its in pill form, I hate needles.

The advantage of Androcur is that it is a pill that you can take with all of the others that you regularly swallow. The disadvantage is that it costs so much.

The advantage of Depo-Provera is that it is cheap, relatively speaking. The disadvantage is that it is a shot.

Personally, I am not much of a needle enthusiast, however, until Androcur becomes more widely available, & thus cheaper, I will remain "on the needle". A pain in the butt is better than a pain in the finances.

:( I agree with you MadScientist, Androcur is expensive but I really hate needles so for me the better to have a pain in the wallet then in the ass. :)

Have been on Androcur for last 2 weeks, first libido went, then potency, and now have amazingly s-m-o-o-t-h skin. Didn't notice at first, as I was looking for change er. somewhere else. Also have a thin layer of fat almost all-over, a lot less hair. more fat on chest and thighs. This must be powerfull stuff! I would advise caution here. Must vote it a plus for no side-effects!

I will admit that I took androcur during the dark days that I had intact male thingies. But you are forgetting the most popular anti-androgen used today--spironolactone. This is perhaps more popular because it is available in the USA, where a number of our members reside. Androcur has not been approved by the FDA. ๐Ÿ˜

Much love,

Kelly :)

Like Kelly-2 I'm not sure why Spirotone wasn't mentioned. I had to vote 'other' - I've been using Spirotone/Premarin since August 2001.

For one period it wasn't available and I turned to Andocur - the internet price difference is shocking - assuming it only performs the same function.

As for the Spirotone - there's a current tv ad campaign in England for outdoor paint that finishes with the punchline "it does what it says on the can" - I reckon Spirotone could use that just as accurately!!!

So, what kinds of changes do you think can be attributed to Spirotone? I don't know. Does it decrease libido? I took only that and still wanted to masturbate. Does it help make erections smaller? Less ejaculate? Possible sterility?

Sometimes I will run out of Estrofem for a couple days and I keep the Phyto-Estrogens in good supply. I believe that these are major contributors to decreasing the ejaculate volume. Promensil, it seems, also quickly diminishes the climax "thrill". I realize the thread is about anti-androgens... I am trying to determine what results or symptoms others have experienced.

Thank you,

- Jim
