For those of you who want proof... Call his office number (215-563-0847) and listen to the message.

Also, here is his medical license info... (it is now expired)...

http://www.licensepa.state.pa.us/Detail ... _id=556138&

So that about sums it up. There are other docs out there that can do the same job (hopefully better) than kimmel. Even though my experience was less than satisfactory... I am glad that there was someone there to do the job. Now, who will be the next castration giant?

Do people remember joe namath for that last crappy year he played with the Rams ? No, they remember him running triumphantly off the field after Super Bowl III with his finger in the air.

Lets properly remember the man who helped many of us safely reach our goal. Don't let these last few horror stories tarnish his many many years of service to the eunuch community.

Dr Kimmel.... good man.

Randy very good post. He risked much to do what no one else would. Maybe that need and his knowledge that no one was stepping up to replace him caused him to work longer than he should. Dr. Spector also worked longer than his abilities until he found a repalcement.

Well, I would normally agree... but after being one of the last "horror stories" that kimmel created... It's kinda hard for me to agree with that statement. If he would of quit before he started causing more harm than good... Then, I would agree with you.

Yes, I didn't need a therapist letter... but by going with kimmel, I had to go to the ER twice plus radiology bills plus my urology bills because he screwed up.

Long story short... Going with kimmel cost me $2,000 + over an additional $2,000 + 2 months of pure agony. For that, I say I am glad he can no longer injure anyone else. Sorry if you do not agree.

Curious as to which part of my post you disagree with. That we should remember him as a vital part of many member's lives in this community or that he was a good man?

Dr. Kimmel offered a service nobody else in the country did and yet he did not exploit that in his fee. In fact he lowered his price for those in financial need.

Not all of us could have ran out and gotten a referral letter but castration was just as right for us. Dr Kimmel filled that important void. Now he is gone and it is not a time to rejoice. I am glad he retired because of his declining health and skill but I do not think any of the members can be happy about the void he left.

Now that he has permanently closed shop, we no longer need to bad mouth him. We should remember him for what he was: Like Tugon said "he did what no one else would." Not because he liked cutting off men's testicles. But because he was compassionate and wanted to help people. I am one of the people he helped. There are other threads about Kimmel retiring and if I have anything to say about it, none of them decline into anything that could be considered disrespectful to one of our members. That is what the Dr. is; a part of our community.

Randy is correct.

The man has retired. He obviously knew it was time to quit. He did that.

Yes, he made some errors, apparently.

But he won't be making any more.

It's terrible indeed that those THAT WE KNOW OF went through what they did. Nothing is going to undo that. Would that we could...but we can't.

Speaking ill of him in his latter career serves no point, though.

No need to panic about Dr. Kimmel's departure from the scene. We know there are about six doctors around the country who do elective castrations and other genital surgeries. One is Dr. Reed in Miami. What is the difference between flying to Philly or Miami. Flight is about the same, but Miami Beach is the logical choice. I spoke with him for a while and he is a very personable, friendly and non-judgemental. He takes his time to describe things to you. With his consultation fee of $250 and castration fee of $2500 he is about $750 above where Kimmel was. He referred me to several therapists who could do most of the work over the phone and a visit when you come for surgery. Two referrals are required. I am just making a guess of $150 each. A nice motel where his patients usually stay is nearby and depending on season could be comparable to the Philly motel. Also, if you go to his web site the facility is absolutely top notch. It will cost more, maybe $1000, but looks worth it. Scrotum removal is another $1300. Decision can be made after arrival. Not exactly as simple as Kimmel, but close, as auxuliary items (blood test), can be done in Miami the day before surgery.

Dr. Murray Kimmel is no longer practicing. His office was recently "closed permanently due to illness" according to a letter I got from a lawyer's office (in response to my regular request for hormones), so I guess his status should be changed to (inactive). Those of us who were his patients now have to find our hormones elsewhere without even so much as a referral.

With an attorney answering his letters makes me think there is something more than retirement or just illness. Maybe there's some lawsuits in the making.

Dr. Kimmel's son is an attorney. That is his practice that is sending out letters. You can also fax a request to them and they will send you your complete medical file at no charge.
