While watching the Star Trek: Next Generation marathon on the Sci-Fi channel I noticed one commercial was repeated many times, and that commercial was for a product called FinallyFast.com . I did a simple search on Google.com for finally fast reviews, and could not find one good comment on the company. One person complained that even though he cancelled the account they kept billing him. Symantec.com, makers of Norton Antivirus, have classified their software as malware and dangerous. So I wanted to send you an email warning you not to install this software or even go to the site.

There are better programs that do the same thing, and some are free!

Thankyou for the warning, I am just enough of a "cyber-dolt" to have stumbled into that trap had it not been for your warning.

I never buy anything advertised on TV. For the products "not sold in stores," you have to figure there is a good reason they aren't. If they were worth a crap, they would be.

And always read the reviews on any software you think about purchasing.

My feeling about things like FinallyFast.com is that it is someone else's way to get a lot of money at other people's expense. My first thought about things like FinallyFast.com is I bet it screws the living h--l out of your computer. Like the old saying, if it sounds too good to be true it probably is.

My advice. If you want to improve or speed up your computer, go to a good reputable computer store with trained people who can give you the technical advice you need, you'll save yourself a lot of money and a lot of problems.

For web safety I recommend the latest Firefox with the addons NoScript and WOT installed. NoScript keeps scripts from running and you have to approve the running of any scripts...its kind of a pain in the ass but it is safer. WOT (Web of Trust) is another addon for Firefox and IE it watches sites that you search for or surf to and warns if you if they are a risk or not.

I use Uniblue Registry booster and Tweaker. Both are rated 4 stars by C/Net.

It cleans up all the crap in your registry and you can dial in your system with tweaker it is in both 32 and 64 versions.

Oh yeah I tried Firefox and it permently crashed Spore. I have not been able to run this program since even after doing system restore it apparently destroyed something spore needed to run. So now thanks to Firefox I have a 89 dollar Galactic collecters edtion sitting that I can't use. EA support was a laugh they have no clue either.

Better yet get spybot S&D and Malwarebytes Anti Malware along with Microsofts regualrly updated Anti malware. you can shut all that scrpting in Vista by the way. However some programs need scripting running.

Plus basicly with the software you list you are just doing what Vista does when it's an OEM install or correctly installed upgrade. Nannying and being a pain in the ass to actually do anything without permission first.

Best defense Firewall up, antivirus run twice a week, spyware remover update and run once a week or more, Anti Malware once a week. Turn off Windows Messenger ermently and use some thing else for your E-mail and never open e-mails unless you trust who they are from, scan any torrents befroe running them. Common sense

Web of Trust (WOT) sounds like AVG. One of AVG's features is to rate all sites for potential risk. If you do a Google search, AVG will put a green check next to any site deemed safe. Move your mouse over the green check and get a window with details. You get a warning - seldom seen - if the site looks dangerous. Of course, AVG may just be rating the landing page. If I do a Google search on finallyfast, it gets a green check.

I found it a few days ago. It adds an icon to your url bar and to search results that give you a warning about questionable sites. The warning is by color, and if you do go to a questionable site it will put up a warning asking if you a shure you want to proceed...the new Norton 2009 does the same thing. These days with drive by downloading and hacked sites you can not be to careful.

WOT has a free demo that you can watch that really explain things (http://www.mywot.com/en/demo)

WOT is a free Internet security addon for your browser. It will keep you safe from online scams, identity theft, spyware, spam, viruses and unreliable shopping sites. WOT warns you before you interact with a risky website. It's easy and it's free. (http://www.mywot.com/)

About a month ago I went to a site with all kinds of bad things and no warning from AVG. It was a business' website and a totally innocent business to boot.
