Remember what I said in the other thread, about how the election furvor and all that is like in the old days of AM radio? They would start playing Christmas songs right after Halloween, and that was ALL they played until sometime in Mid-January. Well, I gather most of us feel the same way about anything to do with pollitics right now, normally I am opposed to any form of communication control or censorship, but this temporary suspension is in my opinion a good thing.

Now, if we can just get the REST of the world to follow suit with us...

When I saw the political forums being suspended this morning my first thoughts were "Those damn admins are trying to be dictators!", Censorship, and corruption hit my mind also...

I sent a PM to the admins in defense of sag, riverwind, and the rest of 'em that enjoy the forums.

I rarely actually READ the political forum... too political for my taste [most of the time]. So I had no clue of the crap that was happening there.

Everyone seems to be agreeing on a timeout, so I'm less upset about it now.

Hope everyones jets get cooled enough so the forum can be re-established soon.

The political discussions were shut down in a 3 way consensus between IE, Kristoff, and myself. Actually, I threw the switch, just so you know.

In no way, shape, or form was this any kind of censorship or "power play" based upon any of our three varying political opinions.

To sum it up, we're all damn sick of putting up with it here, AND in the media.

Personally, I'm sick of all the whining that goes with the damn forum.

This comes about from the recently escalating hostility of the posts, arguments on a scale like we've never seen before, and some comments (while not pulled or moderated) that were a bit disturbing when one considered the members exchanging them. With election day coming up, we figured that things were only going to get worse and that the only viable solution was a TEMPORARY ban on all discussions of anything political.

The forum WILL be back - but you're going to have to wait.

Thanks. I'm sick of politics too. We all need to focus on what we have in common here and not our differences. It's a great community!

To simply what happened so everyone understands...

One day the government says ok you can all get castrated legally, but then some Christian groups come along and put up some laws to block you from getting castrated because they want to

- protect you from yourself

- Keep there children from having to learn that some males want to be castrated

- Its not normal

Etc...

How would you all feel? Then one day some people that you have been hanging out with say, "oh I agree with them it is not normal!" I bet you would all be upset and angry as well...it is something that will stay with me the rest of my life!

I realize that the above scenario is stretching it a bit in a few places but it points the point across.
