Androcur and required dosage

Post by tr_80504 (imported) »

I have been chemically castrated for 8 months now and 2 months of that my dose was 100mg/day and the other 6 months have been at 150mg/day. Is it possible that my dosage could be reduced and still achieve castration results?

Is androcur a drug that builds up in your system after time? I ask as I would like to lower my dose without losing the level of castration I feel now. It is getting expensive not to mention that the high dose is probally not good for me.

Dear Tr,

If I understand you well, you are happy with your situation as it is now ? If so, Yes. I would certainly try to lower the dose. 150 mg/d for such a long period is a realtively high dose. It can burden your liver.

I would give you the advice to try to lower the dose and to see what the effects are.

There are some testimonies of irreversible testicular damage due to a longer androcur regime. This may be another reason to try a lower dose. Your testicles will probably not produce the same amount of testosterone, certainly not in the first weeks after lowering your dose.

But I also would like to check the liver enzymes !!

Take care !

Vesal.

I take 50mg a day and after a month the result was fine. Long term your dosage sounds like a lot, maybe more than you need. Try less.

I have been taking 50mg a day for the past 1 year with the results I am looking for. T below 90 and liver tests normal.

Yes I am very happy with the results and that is why I have been hesitant to reduce my dosage. After 2 months at 100mg I was not happy with the results, I was still getting nocturnal erections and felt my libido was still way to high. After switching to 150 mg/day I lost the nocturnal erections and my libido was gone. I had my liver enzymes checked a couple of months ago and they where fine and I will have them retested in december. As far as irreversible testicular damage that would be great. I would really like to be castrated one way or another in the future.

i will try to drop down to 75 mg and see how I feel. Any ideas how long it takes for your body to adjust to the reduced dosage? I know everyone varies so I am just looking for others past experiences. I would love to be at 50mg/day , less toxicidity not to mention alot less expensive and with the way work is now that makes a big difference.

And I want to say I really appreciate the time and effort that goes into this forum. It is a invaluable source of information

Thanks Terry
