HAPPY BIRTHDAY ERNIE.
I wish I lived in Maine; cool summers, mild winters, no snow:P
BTW, I loved you for years on Sesame Street

Happy Birthday, Ernie.
I have an old girlfriend who lives up there somewhere around Augusta...
...a pretty little raven-haired Catholic girl she was, too!

Hope it was a good one! If not, try it out again tomorrow - not a bad idea - celebrate for 2 days!

My dad and grandfather were so thrilled to be in America after they emigrated from Spain that they immersed themselves in all aspects of American culture. (Don't we wish the current invaders would?). They were enthralled by America football, especially the college game, so much so that they tried to learn where every college or university was located, the team mascot/nickname, school colors, and the fight song AND alma mater. From the time I could babble a lyric, carry a tune, etc, I was taught that the Sooners represented the U. of Oklahoma, that Michigan called themselves The Wolverines, and that Amherst's teams were called The Lord Jeffs (after Sir Geoffrey Amherst, who founded the school pre-Revolution). I learned Yale's "Whiffenpoof Song" (listen here)

and got caught up in "The Spirit Of Aggieland" (Texas A&M's alma mater.) and so it went.
Well, Ernie, Maine has a really great song lauding love and beer. How can you go wrong with THAT? So here's the famous "Maine Stein Song" they still sing in Orono Maine...just for you!

As a bonus, you get another great one with it!
Again, Love, Ernie Of Maine.
