My own experience was that it was painful enough that I took one pain killer following the wearing off of the anesthetic. But I was OK after that and didn't repeat the pain killer. No catheter following castration - just pee and have sex normally.

Showers are usually OK, no baths for a couple weeks, fully closed in about 10-14 days, usually. Seems to be the norm here. Had urological surgery in May and June and that was the same advise I got. Pain is generally minimal. I used maybe 2 hydrocodones afterward a bit of ibuprofen, after 2 days nada

Oh ok don't sound to bad which is good. When I am sick, or in pain I am a handful in so many ways mainly if you get on my nerves I just throw things if I got the strength to do so.

A good kick in the balls was far worse then the after pain of the operation. You will have discomfort but not really pain. At least I did not. You want to keep the area clean. Kristoff's advice is right on. Best recommendation is to keep ice on the area as much as possible and keep still. You do need to walk around some like is recommended for most operations. No heavy lifting for as long as possible. If you are like many of us you will be in great shape and ball free.

Wish you a fast and happy recovery.

I went through the surgery twice. The first was to have the left one removed, and then nine months later to have the right one removed. On a scale of 1 to 20 the first one was about a 15, however the second time it was only about a 3 -4. I had cronic pain in my testicals and that was the reason that mine were removed in two different surgeries. In fact after the second operation the Dr came in and asked how I was feeling. I look right at him and told him that I actually hurt worse before the operation than after. He was a little suprised. After the first one I took loritab every 4 hours for 2 days, but after the second one I did not even take a single one.

If you heal normally on other wounds, and don't have a blood sugar/slow-healing problem, it shouldn't be a problem for you so long as infection doesn't set in. A doctor will probably prescribe antibiotics. Take them ... just ask River about that one! Just treat it as any other bad wound, say a major cut, and you'll be fine.
