We just had an earthquake here in southern California, centered not very far from where Mac lives.

Mac, please let us know you are okay...

I just telephoned, and there was no answer, but I've talked with a cousin who lives even closer to the epicenter. He said that everything was badly shaken (including various breakables off of shelves) and that his menagerie of dogs, cats, and various other critters went wild. BUT, there didn't seem to be any real damage to structures anywhere around.

Mac may have walked out to visit his mother (who's now only a mile away in the hospital) or he may have gone for groceries.

I'll try him again in a bit.

Mac is a survivor. But I want him to check in with us. My niece lives in L. A. She was close to the epicenter. She is fine.

it was a good one. i was in a city that is many miles closer to the epicenter, than where mac lives. i am sure he is ok. i was working on a drive thru at a restaurant and it started shaking. i was hunched down working right near the drive thru entrance and this guy gets out of his car and yells at me and my coworker, "HEY! WHY THE F ARE YOU SHAKING MY CAR! MAN!?" As i stood up and he saw i was about a foot taller than him he realized the whole place was shaking and just got back in his car feeling stupid.

there wasn't any structural damage anywhere around me.

my best guess is that mac is still outside barking.

My cats were acting out all night. Usually, I will notice this and know that an earthquake is coming, but I had one home from surgery at the vet's and I thought this was the cause of all the commotion. I took the recovering cat to the office with me this morning and he refused to leave his carrier even to eat and drink.

The earthquake hit, at 11:27 this morning. I thought that it wasn't particularly bad where I was, but it was long enough that it was probably a stinker somewhere. There were a couple of noticeable aftershocks within a few minutes. A bit after that, when the cat came out of the carrier to eat, drink and use the cat box, he had that snarky little ' Told you so!' look that they get. Cats...You gotta love 'em.

My cubicle-neighbor at work was speaking with someone in CA today when the earthquake began. She was pretty freaked out, but the woman she was speaking to on the phone was cool as a cucumber.

I live about 15 miles from the epicenter.

I was standing in my living room (apt). The building vibrated like there was a heavy truck rolling by, but I could plainly see there was no truck in the street. This lasted about 2-3 seconds, then the building shook violently for about 4 or 5 seconds. When it stopped. dozens of car alarms were sounding.

I threw on some clothing to check on my elderly neighbor, Virginia. She is 83 and speaks little english. When I knocked on her door she started screaming that she was going to call the police, as she is terrified of strangers and thought she was going to be attacked. Typically, she will know when visitors are coming. When she heard my voice, she calmed down, opened the door, and asked God to bless me. She is a sweet woman.

Beyond her screaming for the police, there was little to get excited about...

Then I thought of the Wolf. His house has been described as ramshackle...

And, where is Mac the Wolf?
