A giant asteroid was heading towards the United States and NASA said it was large enough to wipe out an entire city. Within hours of its probable impact, it was reported to be heading towards the Great Lakes region. With 60 minutes of the impact it was heading towards Michigan. With 28 minutes of impact the point of impact was determined to be Detroit.

Wouldn't you know it. Just several minutes before impact the asteroid disintegrated sparing the city of Detroit.

It caused millions of dollars in improvements.

In this boring "Bushevic" world, it seems like EVERYONE is only thinking about what they and get, take, add to their portfolio, get get get. But I really like this idea, GIVING. Yes, it would make us appear to be generous and magnanamous, yet we would greatly benefit by GIVING to our adversaries the things that are a royal pain in the ass for us to keep.

For example.... The Islamic fundamentalist theocracies, like Iran or Afghanistan while under the Taliban, they seem to simply adore "fundamentalists" and we certainly have a surplus of fundamentalist Christians here... Let the bible thumping prigs go and "preach the gospel" and all their other life destroying crap over to people who really need to "find Jesus."

We should maybe have a little chat the the Iranian president... "Ahmed, we gonna make you an offer you can't refuse... either you accept 1,000 fundmentalist Christian immigrants per day from the U.S. for the next five years, or we vaporize your country..."

Of course, that would probably backfire on us. Eventually the fundamentalist of both faiths would see just how alike they are, and then they would be teaming up and oil would cost $500 per barrel.

I guess we should just keep it simple and stick with "Considering's" suggestion, force some of our adversaries to take custody of some of the less desirable spots.
