Over the years I have seen many discussions on how to decrease testosterone, but is it possible to increase it naturally?
I read in the local paper that after 30 testosterone can decrease by 1 to 3 percent a year plus they said it is possible that some men can suffer from having testosterone that is to low. After reading through the symptoms I believe that I might be suffering from it, but can not afford to go to the Doctor plus the cost the medicine.

I am now 58. My testosterone levels began to fall significantly once I reached 40 and have been around 50 the last several times I've had them checked. This has been heavenly. Sure, I've had some side-effects but the changes have been, in general, quite welcome. Hot sweats I could do without but the loss of libido and the impotence have been great.

There are some herbal preparations that have been helpful to some. One of the big ones to stimulate Testosterone production is Terrestis tribulis. DHT also is effective and both are readily available, least-wise, in the USA.

So-called "Andropause" is still a very controversial condition among the medical community. There is little question that T levels decline with age, but there is much debate over whether the decline is natural and needs to be treated with T supplementation.
I think those supplements and other alleged remedies to boost T naturally are junk, but the only way to find out if they will work for you is to try them.
If, however, you do feel you have a number of symptoms of hypogonadism, then if you are really serious about getting it fixed, you will need to see a doctor and get real T to boost your levels. If you don't have any low-cost or free clinics around you, then you can either drive to where there is one or find a medical group where you can probably see a GP for around 50 bucks. Shots are around $40 a month, and there are assistance programs available for the gel (I am a participant in one such program - I pay nothing for my gel).
Best of luck to you

I don't know if it was the result of some sort of lawsuit (For overcharging, possibly?) or simply a promotional effort (Why, I can't imagine.), but the manufacturer of Androgel sent me a debit card that was to be used to pay my co-pay for six months. I have not paid anything for it for the last six months. I am certainly not complaining, but does anyone know what the reason for their benevolence was?

I have to (again) echo Plix. There are lots of snake out "junk" out there. If you have Hypogonadism (Low Testosterone) you need to go on HRT to fix it. Your choices are Patches, Gels/Creams and injections. There are some other ways but? I really don't know much about them so I won't comment about them.
Cost wise its pretty cheap to go on Injectables. Lots of men are squeemish about that but... Its NOT a big deal.
I would disagree with Plix on one thing. I don't think there is that big a debate on if male "menopause" exists. It does. And some men have significantly lower levels (for their age group) then others. However some are also not bothered as much by this as others. What is up for debate is when to treat and how aggresive to do so.
Symptoms are an important part in judging if you need help. Labs also (of course) Get a Hormone Panel done at your doctors and talk it over. If you tell him/her that your paying cash for everything they can help you find ways to afford it.

I feel that I have been suffering from depression for most of my life, but as I get older it is just getting worse and worse. My energy level is almost gone plus I find my self going through mood swings. The other day I was crushing soda cans to take to the recycling center, and at one point I got so upset and mad that I took out a moderate size tree/bush (we consider it a weed as they are popping up all over the yard). At the moment it is so bad I can not even hold down a normal job. Plus I have a difficult time holding on to simple facts like a bill is due, or the doctors appointment coming up. Even staying focused is difficult these days.
I am seeing a head doctor for the depression at the local clinic but this new doctor they assigned me keeps changing the medication.
Then I saw the article on low hormones in males and I started thinking that could be part of the problem. The article ran a few months ago, but I just keep forgetting about it or telling myself I will do it later. So who needs testosterone? I do at least at the moment.
I think there is a health clinic next to the mental health clinic I will try to check it out.
Thanks for the input.

Thats almost exactly how I felt when my hormones were in the tank. I was freaking out about bills. The phone ringing ANYTHING. My doctor said it sounded like a serious bout of mental depression but... She had my hormones checked first THANK GOD and found that I had the levels of a 100 year old man. Going on HRT was like being given life to me.
Joanne Testosterone in weird levels can be really bad. And yes, for our m2f friends male levels are not wanted. But in the right levels for the right gender it can be really wonderfull stuff. Even m2f folks can benifit from having proper "female" levels of Testosterone.
Sheesh! I sound like I ought to be selling the stuff...
DO talk to your doctor. Or maybe take the "test" on
http://www.androgel.com or the
http://www.testim.com site... This may help you decide if you want to get labs done. Good luck!

This is a common reaction to hormone deprivation. Even small doses of supplemental testosterone can provide benefits. Those not wishing to use testosterone can often see improvement from using some variety of estrone. --FLO--
