Lab Results

I had some labwork done, and it turns out there is a problem. My TSH is high, which means that my thyroid is underactive. According to the doctor, a thyroid issue could explain the low libido and ability, as well as the low energy, and a few other issues I am having.

No one knows what the cause of this problem is. It could be the medication I am taking (Seroquel). According to what I've read, it rarely causes elevated TSH, and in a handful of those cases thyroid replacement has been required. But those numbers were so small that we can't say for certain it is that. Plus I am on a fairly low dose (100 mg). If it isn't that, neither I nor the doctor has any other idea as to what it could be.

I was started on a thyroid med. Supposedly the latest treatment for thyroid conditions is a T4/T3 combo (both types of thyroid hormone) or in a few cases T3 only (the stronger of the two). The traditional treatment has been T4 only (the weaker of the two). As my doctor is of an older generation as does not know much about hormone issues, I was understandably prescribed T4 only. For some people that is apparently enough, so we will see what happens. I was also started on a very low dosage (25 mcg), but I guess starting out low and working up is the way you do it.

Once we get things straightened out, I may see some improvement in these issues. There still may be hope for me :)

Hi Plix,

Not that this is a good comparison, but my ex-wife had a very underactive thyroid when we married (I won't go into how long ago that was!). Getting her thyroid hormone levels back in line made a huge difference in her energy, etc.

I wish the same for you, plix.

Hugs,

Danya

I hope you can get that under control actually a Thyroid problem can cause similar symptoms as low testosterone, sorry to hear that you have a Thyroid problem, I know how devistating all these things can be on one.

Another helpful gel or cream compounded called Pregnolone can be quite helpful, I think especailly in combination with TRT, however it would need to be applied on a seprate spot other than where you currently apply the T gel, perhaps the inner forearms. A 5% cream to 10% cream applied 1ml a day for the 5% or 1/2 ml a day for the 10% would be a good start. This is a natural hormone found in the Testicles as well as the Pitutary gland. I am sure this would even help out some with no TRT if thats what the choose. Just a thought to ask your Dr, for those who may be interisted in trying something diffrent. It can also help you feel more relaxed and calmer from understanding, as some have issues with anxiety with low testosterone levels or trying to get them back on track. I use it and it can be quite helpful.

Actually the Physician who recommends this is the one who deals with tuning my system back to where it belongs, and I have had sucess lowering my Klonopin dose after Testosterone levels have been tuned more back to normal along with the Pregnenolone.

For those with a low LH level HCG would be helpful if your testicles are still intact and can function, rather than jumping to testosterone, as you may have a chance to have your testicles functioning again.

My personal opinions no medical advise or medical relationship intended.

Just some opinions which I think would be helpful for some.
