A Dumb Query on Testosterone

Don't ever say that there is no such thing as a dumb question. THIS is a dumb question.

I am to be neutered later this summer. I do not want to take testosterone regularly -- after all, the idea here is to go from low-normal testosterone levels to zero. I have been told that I can briefly revive my ability to perform with testosterone. It would be nice to have this option, just in case.

If this is the case, riddle me this, bat-folks:

-- how far in advance should I take testosterone?

-- what dosage would be suggested?

-- how rapidly will this wear off?

Thanks! I am just a sub sissy-boy trapped in a harsh universe!

Trying to plan to have sex for just a day is not a thing you can plan on by taking testosterone. You have a few days on the up side and a few on the down side. Time could vary depending on the dose and the person. Will keep putting your body in a hormone flux which is not good.

The fact that you are asking this question shows you do not know what castration is and how it effects your body and mind. If you are doing this for someone else you are doing it for the wrong reason and will most likely get very depressed in time. You need to do a great deal of reading to understand just what you are getting yourself into. Castration has very many side effects that can be very undesired. Many have health risks as well. My advice to you is to read many threads then ask some questions when you are informed.

I've heard stories from some eunuchs saying they can supposedly boost libdo and ability at will with a one-time dose of T (usually gel), but I am skeptical. No matter what type of T you take, it takes time to build in the body. Gel is probably the quickest method, with stable levels being reached within about 3 days. However, simply having stable levels does not mean you are getting the full benefits of T. That is something that happens over time.

In my case, I have been on patches, shots, and gels over an extended period of time and am still having little to no luck with libido/ability. I certainly cannot imagine being able to just take gel for one day and being fully back to normal sexually.

But there are stories out there where guys say they can do this, so maybe it is true for some people. If you are fortunate enough to be one of these people, you'd likely want to go with gel at a one-time dose of 5-10g. Effects would probably start within 3 hours and last around 24 hours.

Thank you, kind sir. I am hardly interested in being neutered for anyone else. Read my Blog for brief details. I have been considering having myself altered for 45 years and, yes, I do know a LOT about it. I am just not as pig-headed as those who claim that one size fits all.

But, again, thanks for your thoughts.

My two cents:

The common statement is wrong. Rather, you are dumb not to ask the question.

The changes that occur during puberty are extensive to both body and mind. I would first recommend that you review the various threads that cover the results that can occur from castration, first and foremost, the Castration Primer. (http://www.eunuch.org/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=10168) Never try to control libido using HRT on an off-and-on-again basis.

Yes, eunuchs do go back onto HRT, often to avoid mental health that can arise from castration, often at a low "maintenance" dosage. You MIGHT consider using Androcur (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyproterone) to see how castration will effect you.Read the available information first. If you do choose this route, start at a low level and slowly increase until you reach the recommended dosage, to help you determine if castration is appropriate for you.

If you do move forward with castration, you may want to come down from your normal levels (normal for you, not for others, T levels vary to much for a single level to be correct for you) by using HRT on a slowly diminishing basis, so you don't have a hard crash. That is the single biggest reason that new eunuch that do go on HRT, for a limited basis, is to prevent a sudden crash.

I AM NOT ENDORSING ANY OF THE ABOVE OBSERVATIONS, HOWEVER, IF YOU CHOOSE, ULTIMATELY, TO FOLLOW THROUGH WITH CASTRATION, DO NOT PLAY "ROLLER COASTER" WITH HRT.

From your questions, you need to do a lot more research before moving forward at ALL.

I sustained a testicular "obliteration" at the age of 14 (a bicycle injury). It wasn't until I was 19 that a sharp doctor realized my problem and began giving me HRT. I'm 51 now and my sex drive is as good as it was before my injury (I have sex of some sort every day with my wife and love it). Because of the testosterone I take I have less than 12% body fat no matter how I eat. My cholesterol is 138, my blood sugar is 89, I bench press 315 and I have a lot of energy for hiking, surfing, kayaking. I recover quickly and I look forward to exercise and hard work. It seems also to improve my mental energy.

I'm not trying to brag, I'm just trying to make the point that there are a lot of benefits to HRT and they are not short-term. Oh, my PSA is 0.3, the same as it was when I was 19, with 39.5% free! My bone density is off the chart for my age. While white water rafting, I recently got cartwheeled out of a raft on a level 5 run and smacked my ankle on a sharp boulder. All I got was a teacup fracture!

I respect that you have considered this decision for a long time, but I also hope you will consider chemical castration for a year or two so you can experience the emotional and health effects - such as weight gain, possible cholesterol and blood sugar changes, depession (which I have experienced when I have gone off HRT), mood swings (also experienced off HRT), panic attacks (check please!), and memory issues. Fear and vulnerability is probably the worst part of it all. Not to mention the effects on your energy level - when I have gone off HRT I don't have the energy or strength to carry in the groceries. Forget about the lawn. My wife learns to hate me and I don't give a crap... it's ugly.

Anyway, those are my personal experiences; as Krister says, "Your mileage may vary".

Said with the best intentions,
