I have these 5% lidocaine patches (prescription) that are for back pain. Basically you peel off the backing and apply to help soothe and numb. While I have noticed they do not really numb me they do help with my back pain, maybe its in my head.

In any event I got the idea to perhaps try applying (wrapping maybe) one of the patches to my penis. Before I do this I wonder if anyone else has ever done something similar or who can guess what effect this might have. I figure I will get some feedback and unless someone tells me that I risk serious injury then I will give it a try.

I was prescribed Lidoderm a couple years ago for a small burn on my arm. The burn healed up quickly and I was left with 2 & 1/2 boxes of these patches. Applying them to my penis was the first thing I thought of when I got them.

I have tried wrapping my penis with a patch, but it is hard (as in difficult) to keep the patch on this way. What I have found works best is to take the entire patch and apply it over my entire package. I then put on something tight like my wifes panties or control top pantyhose to hold it snugly in place. You may find something that better suits you for holding it in place, but I like to wear these things now and then.

It only takes a few minutes for it to start working, but after a half hour to an hour the skin is very desensitized. Not totally numb, but close.

I love the frustration of trying to get off with a numb penis. So far I have never gotten off while the effects of the patch are still working. I usually masturbate for an hour or more until it wears off and I can feel again. But as usual the orgasm is a let-down for me. The frustration is where I get the thrill.

Another thing I have used these patches for is to numb my scrotum for banding. When I band without using the patches I can go ten or maybe twenty minutes until the pain is too much. Then cutting the band off nearly brings tears to my eyes because of the sharp pain. When I cut a strip of a patch to encircle my sack (the scrotum must be loose and low hanging) I can then put on a band over the patch. In my experience this eliminates the pain felt on the scrotum almost completely. I still feel the pain in my gut. It's almost like a bad ache in my lower back. When I cut off the band the pain is minimal. Using the patch has allowed me to remain banded for uo to 30 minutes. Even then I only removed the band out of concern for causing permanent damage, not because of any pain.

By the way, my wife found a good use for them too. She placed a patch over each nipple an hour or so prior to having them pierced. She said it felt like a hard, yet playful, pinch or bite. She barely winced when the needle went through each nipple. The guy doing it thought she was tough as hell.

Anyway... Have fun with the patches. No worries about any lasting damage. Just be prepared for some frustration !!!

Caution: Read all the materials that came with the patches thoroughly. Read all the materials you can about the patches on the internet. If the patches are taped down on all sides firmly, it can give you too much lidiocaine and can be harmful.

Just buy some 5% emla cream (works better than the spray) and apply to your ballsack - its great - one can do anything hehehhee

I have used 5% lidocaine gel, EMLA cream, and 20% Lanocane spray & cream for penis-numbing and banding, like innocent574 conveyed.

One was able to purchase EMLA cream from Canada, a few years ago, but U.S. regulations canned it. Prescriptions were not always necessary. I would not suggest trying to locate an Internet Supplier without a prescription - today. Strictly regulated. Most will not "let" you into their web-site without verifiable's (IP address / phone / Registration). They all track people to avoid the USFDA. Permanent records. Big Brother is watching. I don't know what the big deal is. EMLA is compared to several other products in all the Drug reference books. Lanocane is right up there with it (surface skin numbing, for injections). EMLA is Manufactured by: AstraZeneca LP, Wilmington, DE 19850, also available as a generic. It is not a 'new' product. Curious as to why it hasn't become an OTC (over-the-counter) product yet.

I have purchased products like 5% Lidocaine cream, 2% Xylocaine/epinephrine (nerve block), and 250 mL bags of .4% injectable Lidocaine Hydrochloride W/ %5 Dextrose from a company called Medical Sex, as late as 1999 (Mail-order & Internet), but they have changed their name to UniqueMedicalToys (http://www.uniquemedicalproducts.com/). They no longer offer pain-reducing creams, or "injectables".

Personally, I find over-the-counter products like 20% Benzocaine (found in Lanocane Maximum Strength) to be just as effective as EMLA for numbing the skin. Of course, no one person is the same, and your results will vary. I use a hot (as hot as you can stand), wet, wash rag over the area - after applying the cream, to 'soak-it-in'. It lasts about 2 hours. I also use Max-strength Aspercream (no heat required) with almost as good a result. It's especially good AFTER banding.

You can get a good OTC product w/ 4% & 5% Lidocaine from Topicaine.net (http://www.topicaine.net/page/page/658027.htm), in Jupiter, FL. called , what else; Topicaine 4 and Topicaine 5. No prescription necessary in U.S for the 4% concoction. A 10 gram (1/3 oz) tube is $16.50 for 4% - $19.50 for 5%, with larger sizes and pricing, of course. I have ordered from them, but not lately. No complaints. Shipment arrived UPS, on time.
