A total penectomy instruction video on YouTube, narrated by a woman. It goes to show you how complicated the procedure is, and hopefully helps offset those fantasies some of us have of having our penis removed.

Ouch! Thank you for the post. I recall reading about this in a textbook on urology when I was a teenager. This is even more difficult!

Very interesting, thank you for your segnalation.
This operation, as written in the starting titles of the video, was performed in an Italian Hospital of Milan, an universitary hospital, I attend the same university.

I note that in this video that is was with done with a perineal urethrostomy, possibly required in this type of instance (cancer), requiring removal of more tissue that may be diseased.
I have spoken with other specialists that do not re-route the urethra for two reasons:
1.) Sanitation - The danger of infections of the urethra due to its close proximity to the anus. Various bacteria are always present in human waste and can be pushed into the urethra if the area is not cleaned carefully and kept clean.
2.) Urination - It allows for urination while standing using a stent. (Useful in the absence of a convenient restroom when urination is required, but not evacuation... i.e. Whizzing in the woods

)
This means though that urination should be done prior to evacuation, or urine will be released (dribble

) onto the scrotum. . (This might still occur though to a lesser degree than if both are done at the same time, though a stent could be used. Any urine on the scrotum must be washed off to prevent a rash or similar response.)
Relocation of the urethra requires urination be done while seated.
Valid clinical pictures (on numerous medical sites) show the results from each type of procedure. The video here involves relocation.
For myself, if i had to have a medical procedure that required the removal of the penis, I would have the urethra located as close to the original location as possible, barring medical reasons that would prevent that. My overriding concern is both of the reasons stated above, sanitation first and foremost.

That cancer did not grow overnight, because of prudery he neglected his penis, and now has to live without it. (Whether he wanted to or not)

Nice! "Nothing human is alien to us."
This video was much clearer than any I have seen before! Thanks for posting the link, and yes, it does seem to take the romance out of do-it-yourself penectomy. If one were to do that, there would be much emergency microsurgery to follow, if the patient in fact lived. I agree with all who posted warnings before, to seek the services of a qualified medical professional. Sorry to end with the "standard wet blanket disclaimer."
Have a good one!

Buddy.
