I want to share some info about a recent visit to Philadelphia where I stayed at the Best Western Center City Motel. If you fly into PHL, you can claim your bag and cross over to the SEPTA rail line to Center City. Ticket is $7, pay on the train, no traffic delays on the train. Get off at 30th Street Station and get a cab to the motel, about $7. Cab from airport to motel is at least $26. There is a two story triangular medical building about 500 yards west of the motel. Can’t miss it. I assume most walk to and from motel. Despite what you may have heard, the motel is very good; neat and clean. I would stay there again. Besides, they give a significant discount to patients. The motel has a nice breakfast restaurant. They have room service and prices are moderate. Regular restaurant is really a sports bar, and not very nice as a restaurant, and I would stick to burgers. I guess they would send something up to the room if asked. Across the street is a Domino’s (they deliver), and a WAWA (which is like a 7-11 but with better food) available all day, nice quality and reasonable (no delivery). Get some pretzels there. One block north is Spring Garden Deli. Very good and inexpensive (no delivery). There are other expensive restaurants 5 blocks north (up hill) on Fairmont.

If you can get there a few days early, there is a “Trolley” (Phlash), runs in warm weather, that loops from the Art Museum to the waterfront. On and off all day for $5. Lots of historic stuff to see and don’t miss the Reading Terminal Market.

There seems to be uncertainty about the motel. There was to be a hi-rise condo built to replace it, but I heard from the locals that the project has fallen through due to market conditions. I never saw any activity at the sales office. The free standing motel “annex” was about to be demolished, but the heavy construction equipment that would do the job was removed while I was there.

The medical building has a "Leasing" and a "For Sale" sign on it.

If you have any specific questions, contact me directly.

I would post a photo of the medical office and motel but don't know how.
